Chapter 5

>Kai's POV<

"Alpha, the car is all packed and ready to go," my Beta Henry informs me.

I sigh and simply nod my head in response.
The Alpha King requested my presence at their annual ball this year. I haven't gone since I became Alpha because I hate fancy parties and balls but I can't deny the King's request.

Standing up, I close my laptop and stuff it into my bag along with its charger.  I grab my phone as well and place it into my back pocket.

As I walk out of my office I flick the lights off and close the door.

While we walk to the car I go over everything with my Beta once more to make sure everything will go smoothly. I trust my Beta but I am a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to my Alpha duties and this is the first time I am leaving him in charge.

"Everything will be fine Alpha," Henry reassures me.

"I know, I trust you, Henry. Mindlink me if you need anything though," I say, a little of my Alpha tone coming through.

"Yes, Alpha," Henry says as he bows his head a bit.

Once outside, I spot my car with my driver next to it waiting for me.

I quickly say my goodbyes and my driver opens the door for me. I hop in and then take one last look at the pack house. My beta and a few of my other pack members wave goodbye.

The driver pulls away and I relax into my seat.

The drive to the airport isn't long so I decided to just play some insipid game on my phone to pass the time.

Once at the airport I put my phone away and got out of the car. I have a private jet so we drove right up to it. I politely greet the flight crew and pilot and hop on the plane.
Once ready for take-off they put the seatbelt light on and I complied even though I'd probably be fine if we crashed due to my Alpha blood.

The flight went smoothly and we arrived at our destination on time.
Alaska has beautiful scenery.
The Alpha King and Queen's palace is about two hours from the closest human town. It's a small town called Nœra I believe, so I'll have to drive to the palace.

It's well hidden deep in the forest and is protected by a powerful cloaking spell and thousands of warriors.

I had ordered a car that was waiting for me upon arrival.
I waited in the car while the driver put my bags in the trunk.

Once the driver got in the car I asked how far the drive was.

"About one hour and thirty minutes, sir," he answered. 

I nod and say, "Okay, thanks".

I play more insipid games on my phone to pass the time.
Don't judge okay candy crush is kind of addicting.

"We are here, sir," the driver states.

I snap my head up and see these huge gates before us.
The driver stops in front of it and rolls down his window.
The armed guards walk up to the car and walk around it inspecting it closely.
One of them comes up to the window and says, "State your name and business."

The driver looks at me and I hand him the invitation that the Alpha King sent me. He hands it to the guard who reads it, nods, then speaks into his radio.
"Open the gate," he says.

He hands the invitation back and tells us to proceed.

The driver hands me back the invitation and drives on through, the gate closing behind us.
