A/n: By the way guys I picture the reader here to have a color changing eyes and hair just to represent your elemental powers. But feel free to imagine it differently.
Staring at the children that are playing, Y/N can't help but to smile from the balcony of her parents' castle. She remember playing with Dervin, her childhood friend. They used to be so close to each other that Y/N treats him like a big brother.
She was put out of her trance when someone hit her head with a soft ball of snow. Dervin kept laughing at her face as he is the one responsible for the snow in Y/N's head. He has an ice power. His parents died protecting him and the dragons from the devil that haunts them. He was raised by Y/N's parents when they found him floating in the ocean, 13 years ago.
"How dare you!?!" Y/N exclaim while pretending to be mad at Dervin. But instead of apologizing, he kept laughing until a big ball of snow hit his face while Y/N is now laughing and pointing at him. Dervin cough as some of the snow went directly in his mouth. "You should've seen your face when-" Y/N was cut off when the bell of the castle rang, indicating that there will be a meeting. Y/N and Dervin's face instantly become serious as the bell keep ringing.
"Huh? Didn't expect that one" Dervin said as Y/N shrug the start walking towards the meeting room. Dervin following behind her.
When the two made it to meeting room, Y/N's family was already there.
"The hunters attacked this island" F/N (Father's name) pointed at one island on the huge map in their table. "Our patrol guards reported that they last saw the hunters trapping night terrors in that island." F/N finished.
"That's pretty normal be-" Crystal, Y/N's older sister, said but was cut off by their mother.
"Well if you don't count the people that ride on the back of a dragons, then, yeah that's normal." As M/N (Mother's name) said that, everyone froze. They didn't knew there were dragon riders out there, aside from them.
"Wait there are dragon riders out there?" Y/N asked with a shocked look.
"Yes, Y/N. That's why we need you to investigate that island. Chel (oldest sister) and Crystal already had their mission on the other island. So that means you're the only option to investigate those people." F/N told you with a serious voice. You sigh, still shock about the information then nod in response.
Your mother and father need to guard the castle as queen and king because the devils may attack the kingdom at any moment.
"Well I can come with you if you want." Dervin offered with a smile.
"Thanks." Y/N return a smile to him.
"This will be a serious mission, Y/N. And we trust you that you can do this. Remember if you find something disturbing, communicate to us through the wind and get out of there immediately." You cast your head to your father's direction as he speaks. He looks so proud of you. Y/N nod with a reassuring smile.
