Chapter 8 • Call me maybe
The group arrived at Elijah's for a movie night. After eating all of the pizza and leaving none for Elijah, they watch a horror movie that scares Scarlett. A small heated/teasing scene between Scarlett and Elijah later Scarlett wakes up in Jacob's car to be reminded about the Annual Fundraising Garden Party. Forced to find a date to the party by her mom, she calls up Grey and forces him to accompany her. The girls go on a little spa day and have a cute bonding session. Emily receives some reassuring talk for her love life and Scarlett tells the girls about the bets placed between her and Grey.

Scarlett's POV
Holding the clutch between my right arm and body and a sun hat under my teeth, I screw on the black Swarovski diamond-encrusted earring in my left ear.
I grab the hat in my hand and inform my parents that I am leaving.
"Dad! Mum! I am leaving, I'll see you at the party!"
I stop walking to hear any reply.
"Okay!" I hear Dad call out.
My phone rings as I rush down the stairs as fast as I can in my white slingback stilettoes. I answer the call already knowing who it is, considering he has called me eight times in the past ten minutes.
"I am at the door, stop calling for God's sake!"
I put it back in the black clutch I am carrying and walk out of the front door, immediately spotting the matt black Porsche on our driveway. One of the guards opens up the passenger door for me. Smiling at him, I get seated in the car with the door closing beside me.
I look over to my right to find Elijah's eyes already examining me with his head tilted back on the car seat and his elbow resting on the rolled-down window.
My own eyes start checking him out involuntarily. He was clad in a crisp white button-up, whose sleeves were neatly rolled up to surround his biceps, paired with light brown chinos and sneakers. The silver strap Rolex watch on his left hand's wrist brought the outfit together, making it look like casual and formal at the same time.
He continued staring me which started making me a bit self-conscious. I put a strand of hair that escaped the low bun behind my ear, turning my head away from him.
My phone rings in my clutch. I pull it out to see the man, who is barely a feet away from me, ringing my cell. I pick up the call nevertheless, looking at him with scrunched up eyebrows and a faint smile on my face.
"What is it?"
"Where are you?" He questions.
I tilt my head a little, "Right in front of you?" I say, unknowingly making it sound like a question.
He looks behind me as if searching for something. "Nope, but I do see a pretty lady in front of me."
My mouth opens up to form an 'o', while I stare at him in disbelief, also fighting a smile on hearing him indirectly compliment me.
"Hello?"
I punch him on his arm and he retracts it. He laughs and starts the car.
"Seatbelt."
I roll my eyes, clasping down the seatbelt across my chest and he starts driving as soon as the sound of the seatbelt locking is heard.
