It was now Friday and I've gone the whole week without seeing Aviva. I missed her so god damn much, but she wouldn't answer any of my calls or texts, and she was avoiding me at school. I mean I don't blame her, I rejected her. And I know rejection is the worst feeling.
Currently, I was hanging out with Kai at my house and we had planned for him to stay the night, as usual. We've already been on 2 "dates". It's kind of weird to say that because we always went on friend dates in the past, but I guess these were more eventful, I dunno how to explain it.
We were watching Grease together on the couch, when there was a knock on the door.
"You get it," Kai said quickly before I could tell him to get it.
"Lazy ass"
I got up, turned the light on and opened the door. I was surprised to see Aviva, finally.
"Y/n, can we ta-" I cut her off by pulling her into a tight hug. She hugged back and it lasted for a few minutes before I pulled away.
"Aviva I'm so sorry. I missed you so much. I don't want to lose you."
"Can I come in so we can talk?"
I hesitated before looking behind me at Kai looking at Aviva and I worriedly. "Actually, can we talk outside? Um...Kai's here."
"Oh," her face dropped a bit at the mention of Kai, "yeah it's okay we can talk outside."
I stepped out and closed the door behind me. We sat across from each other on two chairs on the porch.
"So uh, how's you and Kai going?" She asked and I immediately got a little tense. Now I have to tell her we're dating. I really don't want to lose her.
"We're good. He likes me back," I said hesitantly, "we're kind of... dating. B-But he hasn't asked me to be his girlfriend yet, necessarily."
She nodded slowly, "Well I just wanted to say I hope I don't get in the way of anything. I just needed some time to myself for a while, you know? I still wanna be friends."
"Thank God, me too. So we're good?"
"Definitely" she said and we got up and hugged again. I tried to pull away from her but she held me tighter.
I laughed slightly, "ok Aviva you can let go now. I'm not going anywhere anytime soo–" I was interrupted by her lips on mine, again.
I pushed her away gently and looked at her in shock. "Really?"
"I'm sorry. I had to. I knew it'd never be the same between us and, I still like you."
I shook my head, "Maybe you should go. Sorry." She nodded in understanding and got into her car and left.
I walked back in the house slowly. Even though I didn't kiss her back it felt so wrong. I can't tell Kai. Wait I have to. Maybe later?
I sat next to Kai who was snuggled into the blankets we were sharing on the couch. He laid his head on my chest and wrapped his arms around my waist. I sighed happily.
"Kai I have to tell you something. I want you to trust me so I'm being honest with you."
He pulled away and looked at me with concern. "What's wrong?"
"Aviva kissed me again. Just now."
"Well did you kiss back?" He asked with furrowed eyebrows. He wasn't confused, more shocked and a little angry. I shook my head.
"Did she know about us?"
"Yeah I told her right when we went out there."
"Bull shit," he said as he turned away.
"What?" I asked, now confused.
"Aviva's not a homewrecker."
"Are you saying I'm lying?" I asked with a scoff.
"I don't know. I don't think you're truthin'." He stood up and let out a sharp breath. He sounded really mad
"Are you serious right now? I love you Kai, I wouldn't fucking do that to you. Do you not trust me? Is that it?"
"Y-You love me?"
I looked at him baffled. I didn't mean for that to slip out, but it was true. I stumbled for words for a second and ultimately, nothing came out when I tried to speak.
"Do you?"
I nodded. I felt my throat getting dry and gulped anxiously, "Yeah, I, um, I do."
"I'm sorry, I'm so fucking sorry. I'm such an ass. I love you too." He quickly walked back over to me and pulled me into his arms, placing a kiss on my cheek.
