Chapter 4-Girlfriend
Kaya ba s'ya umuwi?
"Oh anak, kumusta?" Salubong sa'kin ni mama.
She was about to went upstairs, nakasuot s'ya ng silk robe at may hawak na baso ng tubig.
"Ma, ba't gising ka pa?" I asked while I was closing the door.
"Uh... hehe isang episode na lang 'nak." She said and scratched her forehead.
I faced her with my brows curved up. "Diba bawal sayo magpuyat? Napakatigas talaga ng ulo mo. Pwede namang bukas ng umaga mo na lang panoorin 'yang mga k-drama mo." Sermon ko sa kanya.
She went silent and then seconds later, she squinted her eyes to scan my face. Oh, here we go. "May problema ka." That's not a question, it's a statement.
She knew me too well that even by just one look, she knew if I'm okay or not. Of course she's my mother slash bestfriend.
Many envies my relationship with my parents. Mostly, my cousins. They were open to me how much they wanted to have a parents like mine. They even wanted to live here. And some would just want to be adapted by them. Even my young cousins are really clingy to them. Well, they we're spoiled rotten by them, that's why. They were just so kind (minus the fact that they're always bullying me) that everybody loves them. I am so proud of having one helluva of parents.
But for me, that's not the reason why should everybody would envy my relationship with my parents. It's the bond. It's like they're my parents and my bestfriend at the same time. No matter how many friends would flock at me, it's still my parents who're the best. And they're the only one I know won't leave me when life goes harsh.
I sighed in defeat.
There's no use of denying because she definitely read me no matter how hard i'll try to hide my emotions.
I slumped on the sofa and I feel her did the same way too. When I felt her presence behind me, I instantly rested my head on her shoulder. This is definitely my home.
"It's Liam, 'ma..." I trailed. I heard her gasp and after a few seconds, I felt her hands on my hair, slowly caressing it. "He's back. At magpo propose na s'ya." I choked at my last sentence.
It felt like it sinks in just now and it made me realize that it's really over for the both of us. I regretted not moving on earlier.
"Well, I bet he'd gonna propose to you?" She said, hesitantly. "He promised." She then said firmly. "I remembered every little detail he said when we was interrogating him. And he was amazing. That was the first time I admired one of the boys who had courted you. That time, he was so in love and I was like, 'oh boy, Maycee really got this guy wrapped up on her fingers' You two were almost perfect. Almost." She said, staring dreamily at the wall, probably reminiscing their good old times with Liam.
They definitely had a good time with Liam. They treated him as their own child too that Liam literally got hooked up on my parents, he wouldn't want to leave them. Funny, but I think he loved my parents more than me. Meh.
"Sadly, hindi na ako yung babaeng gusto n'yang pakasalan, 'ma. Well, ganun talaga. Promises are made to be broken. It didn't shocked me at all." I said.
"Talaga? Puwes humanda s'ya sakin, kung ganun. Gagawa s'ya ng pangako tapos hindi n'ya tutuparin, that's bad!" She sneered and lifted his knuckles up and acted punching someone.
