Eddie woke up with his arm on Richie's chest and his leg covering the other boy's. Richie's arm was surrounding Eddie's small body, and the small boy felt at home. He loved the feeling of the taller boy's body. It was warm, and he always had the softest button-ups to cover them with.
An even softer, but not warmer blanket was wrapped on top of them. He smiled, snuggling his head into Richie's neck, and it fit like a puzzle piece.
Richie woke up seconds later, but didn't move much. They were both aware that the other was awake, but neither wanted to move. Richie held the boy closely, he felt calm in the moment. He didn't feel abandoned, or broken, not like he did with his parents. Eddie was like the eye of the perfect storm that is Richie's life. Never had he ever been so in love before. And that goes for both of them.
It was around 8:00 when the boys had woken up. An hour or so passed with them moving into more comfortable cuddling positions. They didn't talk, and neither of them dared to. We're just friends, the boys had to constantly remind themselves. When they found the most comfortable spot, which was spooning, Richie had put his hand directly over Eddie's. Both of them froze, not moving, nor did they want to.
Finally, one of them spoke. "Good morning," Eddie whispered.
Richie chuckled, "I've been up for over an hour Eds."
"I know, I have been too." The small boy admitted. They didn't talk about the way they held each other or how it felt to hold each other. They didn't move, until Eddie turned into the other boy's chest. He looked up, meeting Richie's soft gaze downward.
"H-hey..." Richie stumbled over his words, imagining cupping the smaller boy's face and kissing it. Something he's wanted to do for years. He restrained himself, and just let him enjoy the feeling of the smaller boy's hand on him.
"Hi..." Eddie let out, but was interrupted by the opening of Richie's front door. They both shot up from their cozy position, and watched as two adults stumbled, drunk into the room.
"Mom? Dad?" Richie whispered. "Eddie! Go. Behind the couch, hide." Eddie was worried, he knew Richie's parents, and he really wished he didn't.
"RICHIE!" Maggie said like she was greeting a college friend, and wrapped her arms around him. "Iiiii've missed you!" She sounded like he won something with that, but he hugged her back.
"Richardo! Mah mannn" Wentworth let out, while he stumbled right into the wall and fell. Maggie ran over to help him into their room. "Guess I'll- CATCH YA LATER ALLIGATOR!" Went yelled from the other room before passing out, drunk.
Richie hated his parents drunk, but only because most times they were abusive drunks, however, sometimes they were like this... Forgetting they even have a son, and letting loose. He missed when they were sober, it was like they really loved him. But now it's either they're home, drunk, or out, sober.
The tall boy ran behind the couch and grabbed the boy in the fetus-like position's hand. They ran out the door, and Eddie didn't ask any questions because he knew Richie was going to make a joke or not say anything about it at all.
They ran onto the dead, brown grass and threw their bikes up, riding off, down the road. The two biked past Bill's house and saw the two sitting outside. It looked like they were having an intense conversation, so Richie and Eddie rose past without a word.

The door opened to Bill's room.
"Hey boys, Bill, your mom and I are going to bed. Goodnight Bill," Zack nodded at Stan, "Stanley." He shut the door, slowly.
