Lauren

“Lauren, can we talk?” I heard Lisa say as she walked in the door. Ugh, I really didn’t feel like talking to her.

“I told you Lisa, I don’t want to.”

“Look, when we told you about the kiss, I was angry at him. I didn’t think before I said what I did. Lauren, at least let me tell you what really happened? Please? All I want is five minutes.”

“Tell me where you went yesterday when you left.” I said, glaring at her. I think I already know that answer.

“I.. I was with him Lauren. Even he didn’t want to see me, but he let me stay. He at least listened when I apologized. Can you at least do that? Please?”

“Apologize for kissing him? Or for enjoying it?” I asked her, getting more angry and annoyed every second.

“For not telling you what really happened.” She said.

“You stayed the night with him didn’t you. What, did you sleep with him too?” I said, disgusted with the idea.

“I stayed in the guest bedroom. Nothing happened. He loves you Lauren. He is absolutely in love with you. He will always be in love with you. What happened that night, it was a mistake, an accident.” She said, tears slowly falling from her eyes.

“You put this under the tree before you left didn’t you.” I said, grabbing the note from Chris from under my pillow and throwing it at her.

“Yeah, did you feel anything reading that note? Anything at all.” She asked.

“Does it matter? He’s not my boyfriend anymore. So go on then, tell me what “really” happened when you two kissed.”

“Ok, but if you even want to believe one thing I say about that night, you take this key, and you go see him. You don’t have to take him back, just listen to him. Lauren, I don’t care if you ever forgive me, but he really does love you. You are everything to him.” Lisa said, reaching into her pocket and pulling out the key Chris had given me to his house.

“How did you get that?”

“I took it,”

“Sure you did. Hurry up and talk, I’m getting tired of listening to this.” I said, just wanting her gone.

“The night we went on the date with Amy, me and Chris both agreed that Amy and Elijah needed some time alone, so we ditched them the restaurant and went somewhere else to eat. While Chris was getting our food, this really sleazy guy started hitting on me so I lied and said Chris was my boyfriend to get him to leave. He didn’t leave after a while and Chris would’ve put him in the hospital judging by the look on his face, so I grabbed Chris and kissed him. Yes Lauren, the kiss did go too far. I enjoyed kissing him, but he felt nothing for me. How he feels about me, it’ll never be the same way he feels about you. He wanted to tell you that night, but I begged him not to.”

“Why?” I asked her.

“I was scared. Lauren, for a moment I thought I felt something for him, and I felt terrible because he’s your boyfriend, and you’re my baby sister. I would never betray you like that. I was scared of what you’d say.”

“Lisa, just answer one question, and look me in the eye and answer it. Have you kissed him since that one time?”

“N..no” she stuttered.

“You can't even tell me the truth about that.” I said, trying not to laugh at her.

“Ok fine, yes. Yes. I kissed him yesterday. He was drinking when I got to his house, so I took the glass out of his hand and drank. After that, I kissed him again. He pushed me away from him though, he was still mad at me because I’m the reason he lost you.”
