My team took their positions behind the rocks on either side of me. I looked around to make sure that we wouldn’t be seen by any of the guards.
“Overwatch, Alpha team in position. Do you have visual on the camp?” I said into the radio clipped to my shoulder.
“Rodger, we have visual. It looks like you have three snipers in the guard tower to the east. Hostages are being held in the tent just south of the guard tower.” I heard in response.
“Bravo in position, we have visual on the snipers, what are your orders?”
“Do not engage, we can’t risk being seen yet. Charlie team, whats your twenty?”
“In position, we’re seeing a heavy presence of troops near the North, south, and west entrances. The east is our best bet.”
“Copy. Bravo, on my mark, take out the snipers. Overwatch, be ready with our backup. Alpha let’s move.” I said, motioning for my team to follow me around to the east entrance of the camp.
“Sergeant, I’d like to remind you this is suicide.” Elijah said as he came up to my side.
“Noted, but if we’re gonna die here, we’re gonna take as many of them out with us.” I said bleakly. Within minutes we were near the east entrance to the camp.
“Alpha in position, Bravo, we got one guy manning the checkpoint on ground level plus the snipers, you are free to engage, take them out.” I said into the radio
“Kills confirmed,” I heard a moment later.
“Rodger Bravo team, hold position for now. Elijah, take two men and scale the guard tower, we might need some covering fire.”
“Got it, you two, on me.” Elijah said, pointing to two of our men before moving towards the guard tower.
“Ok, once we’re inside, knives only. We can’t risk a firefight in there.” I said. The men left with me shook their heads in understanding and holstered their weapons, pulling out their knives.
“Let’s move,” I said, moving through the checkpoint, my team following close behind. We started moving our way towards the tent.
“Alpha team, we’re seeing a guard just around the corner from you. Want us to take him out?”
“Negative, I’ve got him.” I said quietly into the radio. I peeked around the corner and saw the guard had his back to me. I quickly snuck up behind him and buried my knife in his throat before quickly dragging his body out of sight. I grabbed his rifle and slung it across my back.
“Area’s clear, you’re free to proceed.”
“Thanks Bravo. Alpha team, move up.” I said. We started moving towards the tent.
“Sergeant, be advised, the tent has two guards posted at each entrance. We have visual on the east and south entrances.”
“Copy, Bravo team?”
“We can handle the north and west. What are your orders?”
“We’ll take the east entrance. Elijah, Bravo, fire on my command.” I said, moving towards the east entrance, careful to stay out of sight of the guards. Once we were in position, I had one of my men move opposite of me to take out the other guard.
“Fire in 3…2…1… Fire.” I said, quickly moving to take out the guard closest to me. I looked to the side and saw my the man who was opposite me dragging the body into the tent. A second later, the guards at the other three entrances dropped. I looked around and saw a group of our own, tied up near the center of the tent. I walked towards them and started untying them, my team followed suit.
