The First Day On The Job

Honey Lemon's POV

I officially start working at the lab today and I couldn't be more excited! I brought a big box full of stuff to customize my desk, I wore my best casual dress and I brought my fully-charged phone so I could capture all the great moments at work, which would probably be most of them. I walked confidently with my head held high to the lab.

When I got to my desk, I saw a little gift with a tag that said "Hope you like it here :) - Tadashi". A big smile just appeared on my face and I ever so carefully opened the gift. It was a pair of big, pink glasses that had no grade, so I was guessing it was to be used as lab glasses. I put on the glasses and used my phone as a mirror and loved them instantly. Suddenly, I heard a door close and I whipped my head back. It was Tadashi.

"Tadashi!" I yelled to him as I was running up to him. I gave him a gigantic hug and small kiss on his cheek which made me feel warm inside.

"Honey Lemon! Wow I didn't know you were here yet, I see you saw my little gift?" he said with a mischievous smile.

Is he blushing? I can't tell. Ugh, why did he have to look so cute?

"Haha yeah I LOVE them! Oh my gosh this calls for another selfie!

Only them did I notice Tadashi's hand around my waist and my arms hanging loosely around his neck. I blushed real hard and twisted around to get my phone, his hand still on my waist like he didn't want to let go just yet.

"Say lab buddies!"

After the selfie, he pulled me in for a quick hug.

"I'm really happy you're working with us"

"Me too."

"Is it fine if I call you just Honey?"

"Sure"

Tadashi's POV

I'm really happy Honey Lemon liked that small gift of mine. I expected she would thank me but I didn't expect that she would hug and... give me a small kiss. I could feel myself blushing real hard and I hope she didn't notice. But man I'm kind of embarrassed, I put my hand on her waist for a while and I could see her turn red, she must have been uncomfortable beyond belief. When I went back to my room, I began working on my project again. After a few hours of intense programming, I think I've done it.

"This is Tadashi Hamada, this is the first test of my robotics project. Here we go..." I said to the camera.

I pressed the 'on' button and... it failed. Horribly. It ended up emitting a high pitched sound and just failed. Everyone came to my room,mall with an alarmed look on their faces.

"It's ok, just a failed test." I said

"Are you sure you're fine man?" Fred asked

"Yeah, I'm fine. Just go back to whatever you're doing guys" I said with a tired smile

Everyone was leaving to continue their projects except Honey Lemon, who was walking towards me and, before I knew it, I was in a tight hug that seemed to last for hours.

"I'm so sorry that your first run wasn't successful" she said with a sad look in her eyes

"It's fine, really" I said, trying to sound reassuring

"Just remember, I'm here to support you 100% Tadashi, I'm not giving up on you " she said, then she walked out of my room.

Honey Lemon's POV

I felt really bad for Tadashi's failed first attempt but now he knows that someone will be with him for support. As for me, I went back to my first project: chemical metal embrittlement. It really is a challenge but the deadline is actually pretty near, a few months from now. So I was still finding the perfect combination of elements and the temperature of the whole thing, I ended up staying until around midnight. While I was bent over some equations (yes there is still a lot of equations eve when it comes to chemistry), Tadashi just came out, looking really tired. At first I didn't notice him until I felt his arm around my shoulder.

"You should be going home it's really late" he said

"But I need to find the proper equation and combination of elements but I can't seem to find it" I said, frustrated

"If you really insist on staying, I'm staying with you. I'll just tell my aunt that I'm doing extra hours" he said already bringing out his phone

"Thanks Tadashi, I really appreciate this" I said with a tired but sincere smile

He smiled back and began to talk with his aunt.

After he was finished, he pulled up a chair beside me

"So what are you working on?"

" Chemical metal embrittlement, it's where I try to break down metal using chemicals. It's really hard, I tell you that but I know I'll pull through."

"Well, no one said that pushing boundaries was easy."

Silence

"Do you want to play some music?" Tadashi asked after a while

"Sure" I said

Then he began to play really old, really cheesy love songs. The funny things is, Tadashi was dancing and singing along to 'Sugar, Sugar' by the Archies. I just had to laugh. Since I knew the song, I began to sing along. When it came to the line 'honey, oh sugar sugar, you are my candy girl and you got me wanting you' I just laughed so hard because Tadashi was just staring at me while wiggling his eyebrows. I shoved him playfully but then he got my arm and pulled me up, I began to dance along with him while shouting out the lyrics, I didn't care if my voice was bad I was having too much fun. I ended up not working because we were too busy dancing and singing and laughing at each other. I can easily say that was one of the best nights of my life.
