Part 6

KATE’S POV

It has been three days since the Tiffany incident. She still hasn’t come to school. Apparently because her swollen lips have not come to normal yet. Even if the welling does go down, she is not coming back anytime soon. The whole school is still talking about her and her ‘duck-like’ lips. This swollen gossip isn’t shimmering down either, after all, Tiffany is popular.

I am walking with Molly right now and she is on and on about the summer activities she was going to join in the upcoming summer break. I was hardly paying attention. I was drifting in my thoughts. I couldn’t get Ashton out of my head no matter how hard I tried. He’s a hard person to understand. He is an annoying jerk most of the time but he can be all nice and thoughtful too. Like at that time, on my last birthday, when I turned 15.........

FLASHBACK

I was with Molly, Jade and Lillian. They were talking about what we were going to do to celebrate later that evening, after school. I told them I didn’t want any fuss, but they just wouldn’t listen to me. So I kept quiet and just smiled as they continued.

We were entering the cafeteria when, Tiffany with Victoria and Daphany, stopped us dead in our path.

“Happy birthday........Kate.” she said coldly eyeing me from to bottom, disapprovingly.

What is her problem?

“Thanks.......Tiffany.” I said as acidly as I could, eyeing her as well.

Yeah, let the acid burn her!

We moved past her but she kept lingering around us, probably hoping to find an to humiliate us. Nothing new here.

“Kate?” said Jade, “I’ve got something for you.”

She took out a homemade, small chocolate cake from that large bag that she was carrying around.

I was wondering what was in it.

I bet she made it herself.

“Made it myself!” she said with hint of pride in her voice.

I smiled and opened my mouth to thank her but Tiffany spoke first.

“No wonder you’re so fat!” she mocked Jade

Jade’s smile dropped in an instant. I could see that see wanted to say something but she kept quiet. She looked like she was going to burst but she just looked away.

“Why aren’t you saying something?!” said I angrily.

“Loser!” said Tiffany

I felt anger build up inside me.

Why is Jade just standing there?!

“What did you say you bi*ch!?” I shouted pushing Tiffany. All the noise in the cafeteria piped down.
