Vincent's POV
Monday, 6:00 am Gumising akong antok pa rin from all that games I played na binigay ng kaibigan ko galing Australia. Kagabi lang kasi dumating yung pinapadala nya and I got somehow addicted to it. I need to stop it or else I can't focus on my school well. Nag gym rin ako kagabi and prepared my forms for my new school the last minutes before sleeping cause I'm used to cramming hehe. Sike! I still get good grades anyway.
My friends from my school in Australia have been texting me their goodlucks for my new school dito sa Pilipinas. The reason I was sent there was because I became an exchange student there for only a year at maganda naman don nagkaroon rin naman ako ng friends sa bagay may itsura naman ako tapos matangkad pa hehehehe.
Anyway, naligo na ako tapos nagbreakfast. Ang sarap talaga magluto ni Ate Saling. She's been our housemaid for 8 years already.
"Goodmorning anak. Ready ka na ba sa new school mo?" my mom asked.
"Yup. I'm kinda excited and nervous at the same time, ma."
"Well, don't worry anak. Siguradong ma shock yang mga kaklase mo sa English skills mo nakukuha mo na nga ang accent eh isang taon ka lang naman dun."
I chuckled and hugged my mom. My mom has been very proud of me since then. I grew up being more close to her than to my dad since my dad always takes more time on his position in politics. Inintindi nalang namin sya kahit 3-4 times a week lang kaming mag hang-out. Isa sa mga sikat na actress ang ina ko dito sa Pilipinas yet she's really humble and simple, wala rin syang time makauwi sa bahay minsan pero okay lang. She keeps her life private from people, hindi sya nagpopost tungkol sa amin pero shinishare nya kami sa interviews about how she loves us so much and it is true. Masaya kami under all circumstamces.
"Kuya Vincent! Kiss mo muna ako!" my sister Ryannah ran toward me with her sweet smile. Ang aga naman nagising nito.
I gave her a peck on her cheek and did our legendary handshake. Good thing hindi ko pa nakalimutan otherwise my sister would kill me.
"Bye ma, bye little pug. "
"Kuya! I'm not a pug! Shih Tzu ako! Shih Tzu! "
I laughed and pinched my sister's 7 year old cheeks.
I went to the garage at ginamit ang motorcycle na pina ship namin galing States bilang gift sakin ni dad 'cause I studied well in Australia. Yey. I don't mean to brag it or anything sa school but I really like riding motorcycles more than a car.
As I stopped by the red light, I saw the busy streets of Philippines that I missed a lot.
As I wander my head around, I saw someone wearing a uniform with the Anberg Highschool Academy logo on it. I remembered the logo well and that I could recognize it from afar. I don't have my uniform yet since my mother wanted it to be taylored by her friend to help her friend's business. Kaya nga ang bait ng mom ko eh. I looked at that student again. She's somewhat my age. Nagbasa sya ng libro sa loob ng taxi with earphones plugged on both her ears. I found myself staring at her until the vehicles were driving away. I snapped out and drove away. I admit it, she's quite pretty.
I reached the school grounds with eyes on me.
"Artista ba 'yan?'
I got really shy and went straight to the registrar's office to sort out my forms kaya medyo ma late muna ako sa klase. As soon as I was done with my forms, the school bell rang for the third time and the Philippine national anthem was played. Stand still, right hand on the chest and left hand at the side.
"Dear students of Anberg Highschool Academy, start your new school year with bundles of joy. Welcome new comers, enjoy your new school with new set of friends and teachers. Dreams and opportunities are awaiting for you all. Have a good day!" said by the school announcer while I was walking straight to my classroom.
When I got there nagsimula na palang magsalita ang teacher kaya hindi muna ako nakapasok agad but she noticed me later on and asked me to come inside.
"Okay class, we have a new comer in this section. Please introduce yourself, Mr?"
I smiled and answered " Vincent. Hi! My name's Vincent Ray M. Quivanoz. Hoping to be the happiest with you this year."
"ayyy ang cheerful!"
"Ang ganda nga English!"
"ang ganda ng smile!"
"ang pogi ng name! Kasing pogi nya."
"Quivanoz? Parang yung actress? Wooww"
"Yung politician rin!"
As I heard the last two comments , I was hoping na hindi sana nila i mind masyado yon. Hehe.
"Okay Mr. Vincent, since you're the only new comer here in this section we only have one seat left. You can sit beside Ms. Saldova."
As I walk to that direction which the teacher pointed at for me to sit, a familiar face was there right next by the window. As she turned his head around, she was the person I saw earlier. What a coincidence naman.
Nung umupo na ako sa gilid nya, she just looked outside the window again. I tried to say hi but I couldn't since para syang wala sa mood. My classmates were still looking at me and I felt really shy habang ang nasa tabi ko ay na nakafocus lng sa labas na para bang ang lalim ng kanyang iniisip.
And suddenly she talked while still staring outside...
"Drop that stare, new boy."
