"For a man with perfect eyesight, I was totally blind. I was presented with a choice, and I chose wrongly. My eyes were so fogged up with what I thought I wanted instead of what was clearly best for me. I didn't realise my decision would be my undoing at the time. I mean, how could I? It wasn't all bad though. My failure had opened my eyes to the truth. Nevertheless, it was too late."
10 YEARS AGO:
It's been a strange past two weeks. The best way I can describe it is like a dream, a fantasy. I was not used to walking home with such a beautiful girl every day after school. For some reason, Bella didn't want me to tell anyone of our relationship, but I won't question it.
To be frank, I thought that I would be happy right now. Don't get me wrong, I am, but I've been feeling this sense of dread. I've not spoken to Jim or Chrissy for a while. I've been avoiding Jim and he's been doing the same lately. As for Chrissy, she doesn't pester me to practice with her anymore and tells me to practice at home at my own pace.
"Hey. What's wrong?" Bella asked.
Looking back down from the clouds, I quickly replied
"Nothing."
The shade of the sky was a silky red and gold. As usual, Bella and I were walking home together.
"Oh yeah!" Bella exclaimed suddenly.
Stopping in her tracks, she turned to face me.
Bella continued in her adorable voice,
"The dance will be held in the school performance hall on the following Friday, 6pm okay?"
"Sure thing. Can't wait." I cheerfully answered.
Two more weeks!!!
As we turned the corner, I noticed a rather quiet tall girl standing by the station.
It was Chrissy.
Oh god.
Should I say hi?
I'm with Bella though.
It'll be awkward as hell.
Chrissy walked towards me and cheerfully waved.
"Hey Ty." Chrissy beamed.
"Oh, hey Chrissy." I nervously answered as I shifted my gaze away.
I hadn't noticed but Bella had stopped a few feet behind me.
"Ty. Check it out. The finals date has been confirmed." Chrissy bubbled.
Why'd she have to do this now when Bella is here.
This is so awkward.
Scratching the back of my head, I replied cautiously
"That's great."
