||~Chapter 1~||
|~Arlo~|
I've always hated surprises, the ones that would slap you into reality with the realization that you had no control over what happened. That all you could do was cling to the swing of life, and hope not to fall off.
Well, I may be over exaggerating it a bit- but my point stands.
I especially hated the surprises in the morning, waking you up with a jolt as it cut into your beauty sleep. I mean, if you're gonna surprise someone with something, don't do it when their brain is at the lowest point of the day. And don't expect them to be all ready for whatever monstrosity you've prepared.
That's why I hated the phone call that I got, and no, it wasn't in the morning but it might as well have been. The news shook me, deeper than any other surprise that I'd been dealt with.
Remembering the sobs on the other side, everyone seemed to be talking over themselves, but I could pinpoint that the trio was there. Blyke was the one trying to talk, although it was on Isens phone. I couldn't hear them well, the signal cutting out as if it planned to sabotage whatever news they were trying to give me.
Settling with simply meeting them up, they agreed, but I could hear the fear and anxiety in their voice. Something bad had happened, and based on the location they gave me to find them, it was bad.
It was a weekday, school having finished only a few hours ago. It was nearly the evening when I set out to find them. The forest they had named was near the school, and I suspected they had gone on a walk. After all, with all the incidents revolving around the three of them, I'm sure they needed some sort of break.
Stuffing my hands in my pockets, as I continued my walk. I was simply wearing the white shirt with the school jacket, my sleeves rolled up to my elbows in a feeble act to stay cooler against the sun. It was hot to say the least, and being outside with the entire attire was a pain, considering that inside the school there was air conditioning, and outside...
Focusing back on my side mission, I reached the forest, peering into the dirt trail that wound in. There were sticks and leaves matted into ground, and I took a deep breath in, willing myself to even consider going in.
But that's when I remembered Remi's sobbing on the other end, and my steps came with ease as I entered the forest.
Well there goes my dignity...
The route was fairly long, and it took a while to even get a glimpse of their silhouettes in the distance. I could tell that both Isen and Blyke were standing up, while Remi herself was curled into a ball on the sidelines. The two seemed to be having a heated conversation.
