Heyaaa, so finally it's Isens view :3 This time, he's gonna learn a little thing, or get suspicious about something we all know. Anyways, enjoy the chapter, it's a bit short but I'm tired soso- and also, John is a bit less psycho so don't worry- it was just him freaking out for a sec.

||~Chapter 3~||

|~Isen~|

I could've written the perfect article.

Tragedy strikes in the forest near the prestigiously known school 'Wellston.' The body of just a 30 year old woman lies on the ground, the murder clear, but the culprit unfound.

But then my mind went blank, shifting into an uncomfortable state of nausea. I could imagine the feel of the pen and notebook in my hand, my mind urging to look at the body, to write, to observe.

But I don't want to look at it.

Despite my instincts instructing me the opposite, I couldn't will myself to do it, the thought sending me into a rollercoaster of disgust and fear. It was a body in front of me, the least I could do is respect it right? Like... someone just died... nows not the time to go reporter mode.

And yet I knew that's exactly what I would do if I heard about it, putting a hand on my mouth as I shook my head in disbelief. I would've fed off the information, the small twinge of pity not even close to the amount that I felt now. I felt... disgusted by the fact that I knew I wouldn't care too much about the murder, just about getting the top article.

How things change when you're actually at the scene...

But I had bigger things to worry about now, the classmates in front of me having reactions of their own. Mainly, I stared at both Arlo and Remi, their disbelieving faces broadcasting the aura of the forest.

"Seraphina..." Blyke started, his uniform rugged and scrunched up. His hands however were covered in dirt, his usual golden eyes matching a similar colour to the dirt on his hands. "Could you... check on John? After his reaction earlier, I think it'd be best if you talked to him."

Ah right...

I had seen the fear stricken look on his face, the fear turning into horror stricken amusement. He looked crazy there, and I swore that if he wasn't just a cripple, I would've been scared for my life.

"I've tried," The magenta haired girl said softly, as if disappointed with herself. "He doesn't seem responsive, so I let him have some time for himself. I think someone should keep an eye on him."

Almost immediately, the two looked towards the one other sane person here. Which wasn't Remi or Arlo who grovelled at the ground, or John who was crazily mumbling under his breath.

Nope, it was me.

Ah shoot- don't tell me they...

"Say Isen," Seraphina swerved to face me, crossing her arms. She didn't look particularly happy, eyes narrowing to make a bossy face. "Mind babysitting John for a bit, me and Blyke are gonna work on the details of the evidence. But we need someone to make sure that he doesn't get any crazy ideas."

I knew it...

Sighing, I tried to shake my head, only realizing a second late that it was 'Seraphina' asking. "U-uh-" I started, stumbling with my words as I imagined her fist coming my way. "Of course I will!" With that, I had already turned to walk towards the troubled ravenette, knowing that Blyke was probably snickering behind me.

What am I now? A therapist?

Approaching the boy, I noticed that the smile was long gone, the more possessive look of desperation written all over his face. He almost looked like Arlo in that sense, except that the fear wasn't apparent on John.

I didn't know John too well, simply hearing quiet remarks from Arlo about what a terrible influence the boy had made on Seraphina. From the sounds of it, it seemed like he had a point, abandoning the position as queen, as well as leaving Turf Wars and all responsibilities of being a god-tier. Almost seemed like she was getting lazy, and I could only imagine that it was this boy's doing.

"Hey," I tried to be sensible, acknowledging the fact that we were all in the same position. Cripple or not, I might as well be nice to the poor kid who just saw a body. "Uh, are you okay?"

Well I ain't that good at comforting either...

His eyes snapped to mine, keeping the same look on his face as he stared. He didn't answer, leaving me in a uncomfortable awkward silence.

"Do you want me to grab Seraphina? Like- if she makes you feel better or something?"

I knew what it was like to want a familiar face, having Remi and Blyke by my side the first time I saw the body. It freaked me out too, so I could only guess that he would want the same comfort as me.

"No."

That was the first word I'd gotten out of him, and something felt like it was the last one too. He didn't explain his answer, leaving me to guess for myself. Maybe he was ashamed of her seeing him this way? Maybe he just wanted some alone time? If that was it, there was no point in guarding him or whatever.

"Do you..." I inched away from him slowly, "Want me to leave...?"

Please say yes- please say yes- please say-

He didn't answer, his gaze leaving from me back to the forest. He seemed calmer, more in control, although I wouldn't trust him just yet either. I wanted to start up a conversation, something to do at the very least.

"So... how's life as a cripple?" It was insensitive, even I knew that, but it would distract him from the situation at hand, wouldn't it?

He turned to me, hands in his pockets as his face kept its passive stare. It was almost intimidating, but that wasn't what I had noticed first.

I swore I saw a glint in his eye, the certain glow that appears when you use your ability.

"Why do you ask." Was his response as he stared back at me, plain eyed. The glow was gone as soon as it had came, leaving me with nothing but to shake my head.

"No reason," I asked, it being the truth of the source of the question. However, no matter what I said, a certain question pegged me down as I thought about it.

I swear I saw his eyes glow.

Shaking my head, I turned back to Seraphina and Blyke, still being beside the cripple.

That's right, there was no way he could've had an ability, or had his eyes glow for that split second there. After all...

He was just a cripple.

Right?
