Chapter Ten: pizza

Zoey POV

Phone rings.

Levi

Levi is calling again. I quickly dismissed the call and threw my phone aside, I don't have time for any wealthy drama and I wanna spend this weekend with Nathan only. I don't want Nathan to know about his calls.

No distractions, it's best friend's weekend.

"You should probably pick his call" dang it! I stare at Nathan blankly. He definitely saw me dismissing the call.

"That guy has called over 20 times between last night and this morning Zoe, the least you can do is to pick his calls and express your anger" he said as he walked to the fridge

"I am not angry Nate " I lied

"Hmm hmm" he came to the couch with two cups and an orange juice pack.

"Ok... ughhhhh... he lied to me, I have every right to be angry " I sighed defeated

"True true, but thinking about it though what lies did he tell, I mean-" Nathan was caught off by the door bell

Was he expecting someone?

"Pizza is here!" He announced and walked to the door to get the pizza.

I'm not sure I remember what pizza tastes like, it's not that I can't buy it, I just wouldn't. I have to pay mum's debts and take care of the basic needs so I don't have money to spend on pizza

"What?" He asked, I must have be looking at him with wide eyes

"You ordered pizza?"

"Yeah I was hoping we could eat while we both talk about your boyfriend " he wiggles his brows

"Levi is not my boyfriend mister he's just some guy-"

"-that you can't stop thinking about" Nate cuts me off

"No....hahaha...very funny Nate...no" I lied

"Oh really"

"Yeah, l just-"

"Alright then, invite him for our hang out at the beach tomorrow " he smirks at me

Wait what?

"No Nate, it's supposed to be just for the both of us and you know that" I tried to wiggle my way out.

"I didn't say it isn't Zoe, just invite it and I'd go with whatever you say" he smirks

"Alright" I sighed. I knew I wasn't getting out of this one.

"Great" he said and handed me my phone. I simply texted Levi.

I didn't bother checking his previous messages because there were too many of em about 55messages, Pfttt who got time for that, also he probably would explain all that was written in those messages by tomorrow and my eyes were a bit heavy so

L: sounds great

Really, sounds great..wow

We spent the rest of the night talking about Nathan's boyfriend, and some memories.

Next day...

As usual Nathan wakes me up with breakfast in bed. I could get used to this, my work has been really stressing the shit out of me.

This hangout feels like a vacation, something I would really not wanna stop doing, I couldn't help but think about my mother and Carter, they'd probably drink to stupor and maybe turn the house into a dumpster. I sighed.

But that's not the first on the list of things bothering me at the moment

I would finally talk to Levi today, after 2 days of ignoring him, feeling nervous is an understatement, I don't even know what to say to him, that's if he shows up, he might have a meeting or some rich people stuff to do rather than a reunion at the beach, I-

"Hey-" Nathan snaps his finger in my face "-have you been listening at all?" He asked with a raised brow, he must have been saying something and I was too deep in thought....

I just stare at him

"What's wrong Zoey?" He looked at me with concern "is it about that Levi guy? We could call to cancel if the arrangement is making you uncomfortable, I don't wanna force you to do what you-"

"You ain't forcing me to do anything Nate" I took a deep breath "it's just that I don't know how to feel, we just met like a month ago and all these drama. It's even worse that he's my boss's boyfriend " I sighed

"You guys aren't dating Zoe, it's no biggie seriously, you think too much, he probably has reasons why he didn't want to tell you about his social status, don't be judgmental" he said and drank out of my tea cup

"Hey" I smacked him "get your own tea" I pout

"What? I made it" he laughed

"No one said anything about being judgmental-" I said after a brief moment, he rolled his eyes "and you need to have seen Ms Anna when she saw Levi, she was basically all aver him" I cringe

"Someone is jealous now-oouuuch" I didn't wait for him to finish that sentence before smacking him

"I am not jealous, I just don't want her to think I am tryna steal her man, cause I-"

"No one would think like that Zoey, it's just friendship nothing more " he assured

"Ughhhhhh.... thanks anyway"

"That's what the best of the best of the best besties do" he wiggles his brows and laughed as I rolled my eyes

"Alright, eat up, gosh you eat like a snail, we would be late for today's activities if you keep eating like this

"Whatever daddy" I pout.

"We are leaving in 30 minutes, bathed or not" he said and walked out of the room.

I can't help but think about what Nate said, it's just friendship right, nothing more.

I can't help but notice the slight disappointment I feel in my heart
