Zoey POV

"Nathan"

"Hmm...Nathan hun, you didn't tell me you guys were seeing each other" she wiggled her brow and I glared at her.

"Eww,no mom,we are just...you Know what,I'd just read It out loud"

"Come-on baby,I'm just kidding"she laughed and I rolled my eyes and walked into the kitchen

"What's for breakfast " I asked.

"Scrambled eggs and toast,or oats and boiled eggs,whatever you want. I made by them both" she smiled as I admired the food.

"Did you say scrambled eggs?" I yelled happily.

"Yes baby, now set the table while I dm go get carter" she said and walked out of the kitchen and I immediately started setting the table

I was supposed to go to the hospital today to submit the files for ward 32, but with my mom's news and behavior. I can't cause I don't know how long it would last..so I have to cherish the moment
I set the table for three and I sat patiently wait int for them...after a while they came out, Mum was looking flushed an d her lips were swollen

"Hey zoey" carter said and kissed my head

"Eeew , you too made out,while I was waiting and you just kissed me with that same lips" I scrunched my face and t he y both laughed.

"What's for breakfast baby" carter asked mum

"Toast an d scrambled egg or oats and boiled eggs"she said and he gave her a peck on her nose

I watched them in awe. Dad never kissed Mum in public,public meaning the presence of my my late brother and I. Mum didn't like the idea though,but in his defense, they were going to corrupt us.

Dad wasn't really a romantic person,he tried but he just couldn't be romantic. But carter makes mum feel like an queen,he is romantic. He is never really out so he basically spends the day making Mum feel special and when he goes out,he comes back with chocolate or flowers,something romantic for mom. The only problem with carter is that he is an alcoholic and a trafficker.

My mother is so happy with him,I wouldn't want her to loose him the same way she lost dad.

I wish he'd just stop the drugs.

We talked about random stuff as we ate,I couldn't help the smile on my face, we haven't eaten together as a family before,I'm so happy that-

"Uhmm...carter"mum said

"Yeah,baby" carter did still chewing on the toast.

"I-I have to t-tell you something " she stutters be I reached out and gave her a squeeze on her hand,encouraging her to go on

"Alright?" He took another bite,oblivious of Mom's panic

Mum went mute.

"What's up babe" he said once he looked up and saw her face.

"Remember about four weeks ago, when I told you I was feeling somehow?" She suddenly had interest in her fingers

"Hmm hmm" he sits upright drop his toast, suddenly interested. I admire how he took my mom's health seriously

"...and you told me to go and see a doctor" she paused.

"Yeah,so what did he say?" He asked.

Mom went silent. She opened her mouth but the words were not forming.

"Baby,what's the problem?" He picked her arm and looked at her like he was trying to study her face then his eyes shifted to me as I struggled to keep a straight face,if he wasn't looking I would be grinning from ear to ear.

They are so cute

"W-we did s-some tests and we-the doctor d-discovered t-that...." she paused again and I looked up at her, she was crying already

"Momma" I said holding her

"You ain't sick now, are you?" He said no he stood up me drew his chair closer to her and sat back.

"No-no carter,I'm not sick " she muttered

"So what's the problem then" he said suddenly getting impatient

"I-I-uhhh...I am pregnant" mum said afraid of looking at Carter's face.

I looked at him,he looked shocked then he broke into a smile,actually I was scared for his cheeks.

"Oh-my-God" he breathed, and he looked at me probably for confirmation and I just nodded smiling then he grabbed my mom and kissed her

Eewww.

"Wow...wow...wow" I coughed,it's ok to do this,but not in front of your daughter please.

"I'm gonna be a daddy" he got up and literarily danced back upstairs leaving mom with swollen lips and a shocked expression.
