Inside the carriage, Zhao Xing sat face-to-face with her idol.
The general invited the transmigrator to enjoy the tea and requested to have a private conversation with her. Gao Chang Gong even didn't let Wu Ruyi join them, leaving the man almost burning with jealousy and anger.
Zhao Xing naturally understood the prince before her wouldn't simply talk about gossip, nor chat about today's horoscope. He, undoubtedly, demanded an explanation from her.
The girl actually guessed Gao Chang Gong might've known the truth about the second prince's incident. It would've been weird if he was clueless about it. After all, he was a great general, it wouldn't be surprising if he placed a spy inside the prime minister's manor to gain information!
"It's truly a surprise to meet Miss Zhao Xing at this kind of place."
The young general poured some tea to Zhao Xing's cup as he opened the conversation.
Letting out an awkward laugh, the second young miss answered with a stammer, "Ahahaha, y-yes ah! T-This official daughter never expected to meet Your Highness at this kind of place as well!"
"Ah, is that so?"
Gao Chang Gong lifted his sword-like eyebrows playfully as he allowed a mysterious smile to bloom on his celestial visage.
The general casually served a cup of tea to his guest before finally inquiring, "Then where will Miss Zhao Xing go with this kind of attire? We're already far away from the capital city. It will take five or six days to go back. Miss Zhao Xing wouldn't go this far only to play around, right? Looking like a man?"
Zhao Xing felt grateful she didn't drink her tea yet, or else she'd spit it out from shock. The girl bit the insides of her mouth as she forced her brain to think for a reason.
She was usually a smooth talker, but in front of this general, her brain suddenly froze and stopped functioning. She understood that she couldn't lie to him at all, she wouldn't dare to. After all, Gao Chang Gong was the most renowned general, he could see through a person only by a single glance.
And, oddly enough, she also didn't wish to lie to him...
"I-I'm going to Changle..."
Zhao Xing timidly answered. She ducked her head and played with the teacup in her hands. Who knew that before this man, she could be obedient like this?
"Oh? Why?"
Gao Chang Gong kept interrogating, his eyes sparkled with great interest. The general already took off his mask and let the young lady see his dazzling smile. It made the transmigrator suddenly think he did that intentionally, to let her see his smile and let her be hypnotized!
"Uh, t-that..."
The transmigrator clutched her sleeves tightly, trying to gather all of her courage. Her knuckles already turned white and she was slightly trembling. Her head was busy processing information and weighing the pros and cons of her decision.
If she lied to this man, he would undoubtedly keep being suspicious of her. Sooner or later, she would be cornered into an unfavorable situation.
On the other hand, she could gain his trust and favor if she was honest with him. The general could also lend her a hand, so she wouldn't need to bug Wu Ruyi every time.
Several moments later, after making a decision, the transmigrator let out a heavy sigh. Zhao Xing braced herself to lift her chin and stare at Gao Chang Gong's deep eyes. At this point, she could only surrender to him.
