Back At Bastion

The journey from the ANA base to Camp Bastion seemed like it took much longer than it did when they were going to the ANA base even though it was actually shorter as, there were no suspicious objects in the middle of the road this time around. For most of the journey the soldiers chatted, but it didn't seem right to any of them that Oscar was missing as he was meant to be there with them heading back to Bastion and then from there to home and off on other adventures around the world.

They got to Bastion at about midday and after they got through all of the security gates they unloaded the trucks. When they were finished they all said goodbye and went off in their separate directions with most of them heading home, but Elvis was heading to Ukraine in about an hours time and Georgie  was staying there for the next week to help out at the hospital so she headed towards the female quarters to dump her kit. Once she had done that she went to the hospital to start her shift.

Elvis

He joined the queue for Pizza Hut, so he could grab a bite to eat before he left for Ukraine. He didn't yet know what they were being sent out to do, but he guessed it had something to do with the recent falling out with Russia.

The queue for Pizza Hut was pretty short, so he got to the front pretty quickly and ordered a meat feast pizza. He then waited for it to be made and when it was ready he went over to the seating area and sat down to quickly scoff it. He checked his watch and then realised that he only had 20 minutes to eat it so he scoffed it and then washed it down with the remaining water in his water bottle.

His water bottle was now empty as he had just downed its contents, so he decided that he had enough time to refill it before he needed to leave. He walked over to the nearby tap, refilled his water bottle and then made his way towards his transport that was taking him to Ukraine.

It was quite a small plane as he was the only one going to Ukraine from Bastion as the rest of his team were flying in from the UK. He got in, slammed the door shut and strapped himself in. The plane then lifted off and Bastion along with the love of his life were soon behind him.

Georgie

The hospital was fairly quiet so Georgie just got stuck in helping where she could and being where she was needed. She saw the soldier that she had helped 2 days before and saw that he was in a stable condition. This made her feel a bit better as she knew that she had at least saved two soldiers lives this week. This thought then reminded her that Danny was transported here the day before and he could possible still be there, so she asked her friend Jackie "Do you know where they took the SF soldier who was brought in yesterday?" Jackie looked up from writing down some notes and then asked "What's his name?" "Danny, Danny....Brown I think" Georgie replied "He was one of my patients yesterday, come on I'll show you where he is" Jackie  then led Georgie down a long corridor and at the end was the room Danny was in "Thank you Jack's I'll see you later" Georgie said before she walked into the room Danny was in "It's no problem Georgie, I'll see you later" she replied. Jackie then walked away and went back to what she was doing before.

Georgie went over to Danny's bedside. He saw her coming so he tried to sit up. Georgie saw him wince in pain so she said "don't you even try it" as she didn't want him bursting any stitches. Danny stopped trying to sit up and looked up at Georgie and said "Thank's for saving my life yesterday Georgie" Georgie looked at him and said "I was just doing my job" Danny then asked "How the fuck did we even get out of there. I was in so much pain I can't remember a fucking thing after we went over that IED" Georgie then  told Danny  how Elvis managed to get them out of there alive and also how she had to gag him, which she then apologised for. Danny then replied whilst laughing  "it's alright Georgie I forgive you, I've worked under captain Harte a few times and I never thought that I would have to ever thank him for saving my life, he is never going to let me forget that"

Danny looked out of the window on the other side of the room and saw a small plane taking off "I'm getting transported home tomorrow" he said "That's good, your fiancé will be over the moon" Georgie replied. She then said "I'm out here for another week and then I'm going home" They chatted for a few more minutes until Georgie thought she heard a very familiar voice out in the corridor, so she said "I'll let you get some rest" to Danny before she went out to see who was making the loud noise in the corridor.

"Moll's?" Georgie said as she walked over to a petite brunette woman. Molly turned around to face Georgie. She was smiling but Georgie could tell that she was worried about something "what's wrong Moll's" Georgie asked her. Molly looked at Georgie and said with a shaky voice "My mate just got shot" Georgie wrapped her arms around Molly and said "Oh Moll's, I know how you feel. If you want we can go for a natter because I'm due my lunch break around now" Molly said "Yeah alright then" So Georgie went to find Jackie. She found her in the same room she was in before so she went over to her and said "it's fairly quiet so I'm going for lunch" "Okay, but be quick in case anymore medevac's come in" Jackie said "I will, don't worry" Georgie replied. She then walked back to Molly and then they went to get some lunch.

Georgie grabbed herself a salad and Molly grabbed herself a sandwich. However they both got a cup of tea. They walked over to an empty table in the corner and sat down. Here Molly said "I'm glad you're here, but I didn't know you was in Afghan" Georgie then replied "I didn't know you were here either, I first came out on an SF mission and then I got posted here for a week, so here I am" Molly then said "I was doing a training exercise last week when I was called over by the boss and he basically said I was going to Afghan the next day, so that's how I ended up here"

Georgie could tell that Molly was worrying as she kept looking down at her tea so she said "You can tell me what happened if you want" Molly looked up from her tea and said "alright" she then put her tea down on the table and said to Georgie "basically we was in a dried up riverbed that the Taliban had made into a minefield and Smurf saw this girl, Bashira. He thought she was spying on us but I don't believe him as she's my little mate, but anyway he went to see what she was doing, without telling anyone and a few minutes later we heard a gunshot and then through the coms he said he had been shot, so I tried to get to him on the other side of the minefield and almost got myself blown up in the process as my foot touched a mine. Basically after that I got there just in time to shove my fist in his wound and save his life" Georgie then said "At least you saved him" Molly then said "George what's happened?" Georgie then told Molly "I lost two people in my care yesterday and nearly lost the third" "Oh George that's terrible, I'm so sorry" Molly replied as she got up and went round to give Georgie a hug. Molly then sat back down and they continued to chat.

Georgie was thinking that she thought she had heard the name Smurf before and then it suddenly hit her "Oh my god Moll's, isn't Smurf what you called that guy the other night" Molly's face started to go red as she replied "yes it is and you can shut up about that, we're just mates" Georgie then said "Right" and winked. Molly gave her a friendly kick under the table.

They put away their lunch stuff and headed back to the hospital. They walked into the hospital and Molly went straight to see if Smurf was conscious and Georgie went to see some other soldiers. About 10 minutes later Smurf had came around and Molly was told by Jackie that there was transport ready to take her to the helipad so Molly went to find Georgie. Molly found her a few rooms down the hallway so she walked over to her and said "I'm going back to my section now, so I'll text you when I'm back in the UK so we can go on a night out yeah" "Sounds good to me" Georgie replied. They then hugged and Georgie said "Take care of yourself Moll. I'll see you soon" Molly then said "You better take care of yourself as well, bye" Molly then walked out of the hospital and made her way to rejoin her section.
