GIGI'S HANDLES STUMBLED THROUGH HER SUITCASE IN A STATE OF PANIC.
The girl knew it was in there somewhere, she carried the small box filled with them everywhere with her, why now is this the time that she couldn't find them.
Gigi had arrived home around thirty-five minutes after her encounter with Crystal and she had been shaken up, Nicky asking her what was wrong and she just scooted right past her and rushed into her room, sorting through all of her own belongings to try and find the small Polaroid photo.
The photo is a small picture of her and Crystal, it was taken on the day where Crystal came to her house after school and cut her hair, it was of the two girls smiling- Crystal looking a little awkward while doing so- and Gigi's chopped hair was in the background, the picture often made Gigi laugh.
Crystal had wrote her number on the back of the Polaroid for Gigi so that Gigi could call her whenever she liked or if she needed help with anything.
Granted- Gigi most definitely should of threw that small little Polaroid photo away after their fight, it seeming weird to have a photo with somebody you don't talk to or connect with anymore but she brought it everywhere with her, it was in a small box with some other photos with her other friends.
She never looked at the Polaroid, she had a small bit of fear at the pit of her stomach at the thought of looking at that photo, but she had it for so long and it stayed with her through so many lifts in her career that she saw it as somewhat of a good luck charm.
So here Gigi was, searching through her room- basically looking for a needle in a haystack. The groans of discomfort and anger grew through-out the hour, her voice and the bustling of furniture and boxes didn't go unnoticed by Nicky who soon grew tired of the sound of her furniture banging.
Nicky was absolutely sick of it.
"What the fuck are you doing bitch?" Nicky bursted in through the door, looking as if she was five seconds of slamming drawers away from flooring the girl who was on the verge of tears with her clothes scattered around her bedroom floor.
Nicky's anger lessoned at the sight of Gigi, walking over to the girl and sitting down on her floor in front of her "do you want to cuddle?" She questioned, not wanting to push Gigi further into discomfort and the girl nodded, almost jumping into nicky's arms and laying her red head on her chest.
Gigi basked in the embrace of her best friend and co worker before speaking. "I saw Crystal". Her tone sounded unsure- like she was almost scared to listen to Nicky's reaction.
Nicky's hand rose to the back of her head, caressing it ever so slightly "what happened?" She mumbled in reply- listening to Gigi take a small gasp of air; one that she recognised. It was a regular occurrence whenever she was anxious over something.
Gigi's hands squeezed tightly on to Nicky's back as her voice wavered "she's changed Nicky... she has really changed- she isn't like normal Crystal anymore" she admitted, Gigi didn't know why but she was pretty sure she was on the verge of a panic attack from being so overwhelmed.
Nicky chuckled in disbelief as her eyebrows furrowed over "girl... what do you mean she's different? It's been seven years of courses the woman has changed!" She exclaimed- almost as if Gigi's words were ridiculous.
Gigi pulled herself back from Nicky- releasing her from the death grip she was holding her whilst shaking her head softly, her red locks shaking along with her "no... it's like-" she thought for a moment, trying to think of a valid way to explain the change to the french girl located in front of her- soon deciding on it would be better to just not do that rather than starting a fight. "Never mind.." her voice came out unsure- questioning almost and Nicky decided to stray from the topic.
The french girls manicured hand reached out to grab Gigi's reassuringly, both of her hands rubbing over hers. "Did you ask her out? Like on a date?" She questioned Gigi curiously- just wanting to see how far their discussion got.
Gigi's eyes widened as she let out a small embarrassed chuckle, pulling away slightly as her hands gripped the material of her black pants "uh... no? Why would I do that... I haven't seen her in seven years and you think I'd ask her out on a date?" Gigi questioned, as if it was the stupidest thing she's ever heard.
Nicky was confused to say the least.
Her hand slid through her blonde locks as she looked at Gigi, who's face was covered with a sheen of anxiousness- staring directly back at her "well... you haven't dated anybody else since her- or had sex... you haven't even flirted with anybody Gigi..." Nicky mumbled softly. Doing things like that was like basic adult stuff, and so when Gigi didn't do such simple things like flirt or get into a relationship she always just turned to the Crystal situation that Gigi had told her about back in her first year of college.
Gigi's breathing hitched "of course not... I didn't stop because of crystal" she chuckled awkwardly, her tone coming out uneven and slightly squeaky, she even sounded unsure of herself at that moment.
Nicky's thumbs rubbed over Gigi's hands, trying to sooth the small shake of her friend.
Nicky heard the lies grit through the red heads teeth- and she wouldn't let Gigi lie to her, because one lie leads to one hundred, and she wasn't having that whatsoever.
"Then why did you stop?" Nicky replied, almost as if she was interrogating her, wanting to make sure that Gigi saw the point that she was trying to get across to her. "Because tell me why the only time you have blushed because of a girl in the last seven years is because of Crystal, or maybe even tell me why you were on the verge of tears because you saw Crystal?" She spoke as if it was so blatantly obvious and it scared Gigi.
"Gigi... just admit it, you were waiting for Crystal." Nicky stated, just wanting Gigi to finally open up and be vulnerable, authentically vulnerable.
So that's what she did. Gigi didn't like admitting things that would feel belittling or degrading to herself, she often put herself on such a high pedestal that it was hard for her to anchor her way off of it. And maybe admitting that she was a little bit attached to Crystal wouldn't hurt in the long run.
