EVERYTHING ABOUT THE SITUATION THAT THE TWO GIRLS WERE IN FELT NOSTALGIC.
The small little café, the seats in the same place they sat at seven years ago- even the milkshakes were the same. Everything was pure nostalgia
Gigi had found the small Polaroid photo with crystals number on it eventually, ringing her up and having a brief non-descriptive conversation, it just being polite and Gigi asking her out for a 'two person get-together' at the diner both of the girls knew.
Crystal didn't refuse.
So here they sat, the exact same way and in the exact same seats they sat in seven years ago, except this time with an air of tension surrounding the two ladies.
Gigi was the first to speak up "so.. you are back?" Was all she said, a question that could be taken in so many ways, the depths of her question were not seen by Crystal as the shorter girl just nodded, leaning down to take a sip of her milkshake and missing the straw on her way down as she does so.
"So uh... what do you do..?" Gigi asked another, trying to maintain some sort of conversation with the brown haired girl who's large curls were pulled into a slicked back ponytail onto the back of her head.
Crystal felt her throat thicken, almost as if the cold liquid she was drinking was just freezing up as she drank it in, but that just simply was not the case.
She felt embarrassed. Gigi had clearly done very well for herself judging by her appearance and the expensive black leather handbag that was sat on the seat beside the redhead and all Crystal had was an unemployment status and an excessive amount of cheap jewellery. This was not good.
"I worked at an art gallery in Michigan... Mom wanted me to come back because dad needs help, she wants to help find me a job somewhere but I'm kind of relying on her for money until I find one.." she rambled out. Of course she did. You ask the girl one question and she will tell you here whole life story, but that was one of the things Gigi liked about her.
"Oh.. shit that's not good.." Gigi mumbled softly, a soft wash of concern covering her facial features as she looked at Crystal who just seemed to suddenly take an interest in the liquid in her glass that she was slushing around with her straw with a hot red blush on her cheeks.
Crystal was as charming as she was seven years ago, she hadn't changed as much as Gigi had expected and she still had all of her odd, dorky qualities. "You don't have to be embarrassed about your financial situation y'know"
"Huh?" Crystal looked up, as if she was expecting to hear anything except that.
"You.. you have your embarrassed face on" Gigi admitted, her eyes tracing over the apples of the tan girls cheeks again.
"Oh.."
"You are unemployed because you wanted to see your family. Don't be embarrassed it's sweet.." Gigi stated, placing her hand on-top of the one that crystal had resting on the table.
Gigi knew flirting already was a dumb idea, she kind of blamed Miss Nicky Doll for basically forcing her to admit her infatuation with Crystal that she still hadn't let go, maybe if she didn't it would be much easier to not flirt with her, at least that's what Gigi told herself.
Crystals eyes glanced up at her, she looked as if she was ready to start crying, her top lip quivering so briefly that Gigi could of missed it if it weren't for her studying the Hispanic girls face. She really needed to hear that.
It took merely a few seconds before Crystal pulled her hand back from Gigis as quickly as she could, attempting to ignore the feeling of remorse she had building up in her chest for actually enjoying the simple touch, Crystal looked disgusted.
Gigi's eyes blinked confusedly for a few seconds, curious on how such a simple touch could drive such an insane reaction from somebody.
"Do you have a girlfriend or something? Sorry if I made you uncomfortable" The redhead stated, wanting to make her innocent intentions clear to the curly headed girl who just seemed to grow more and more uncomfortable the more that she spoke.
Crystal wanted to throw up at the question. She didn't have a problem with gay people, she only had a problem with herself being gay from all of the lies that her previous employer and conversion camp had fed into her head, she had learned to push back all of the attraction she had towards woman into the back of her head. Gigi's question was so simple but yet it had her mind racing in such an obscene amount of panic.i
Crystal coughed awkwardly, her wide brown orbs scooting around the room, looking at an inanimate object, then Gigi and then another inanimate object as she tried to think of words that would be able to come out easily.
"I don't do that stuff anymore..." Crystal mumbled shyly, the small freckles on the bridge of her nose being highlighted by the pink blush that began to cover her face as she finally looked back at Gigi, who had arched a curious brow towards the girl.
"Like date anybody? Me neither... I haven't dated a girl in... uh.. a bit" Gigi chuckled awkwardly as Crystal shifted uncomfortably on the small metal chair she was seated at.
"No.. like girls." Crystal mumbled, just wanting the awkward conversation to be over as soon as it possibly could be "I'm straight" she said simply, fixing her posture slightly to try and emphasise on her point that she was trying to get across.
Gigi laughed.
Gigi let out loud bowls of laughter, her fragile hands grabbing onto the table for support, it shaking slightly as she did so. Crystal silently thanked god that the Café was empty aside from the staff otherwise the pair of girls would have been getting judgemental stares left right and centre because Gigis laugh was so excessively loud it made Crystal cringe.
"I see you haven't lost touch with your sense of humor" Gigi panted as she tried to regain the breathe she had lost from her laughing fit. Crystal just stared at her confused
"It wasn't a joke?" Crystal stated, almost as if it was a question, curious on why Gigi would even laugh. She just 'came out' as straight and Gigi laughed in her face. Unbelievable.
Sure, of course Crystal thought about girls. Crystal knew that she wasn't able to be openly gay or openly think gay thoughts. But Crystal mentally assured herself that straight girls definitely think about having sex with women.
Gigi looked confused "huh?" And the blank stare that Crystal bored back at her only enhanced her confusion even more.
"So like... you just don't like pussy anymore? Like you just stopped.... like one day you saw pussy and you were just like. No. I don't think I will?"
"Well. That's one way to put it" Crystal chuckled awkwardly, trying to relieve the confused tension between her and the girl facing her, it didn't pan out.
Gigi was just confused. It was like her and Crystal switched lives.
Gigi is now the out and proud lesbian and now Crystal is straight.
Of course Gigi didn't believe that for a second, she didn't believe that somebody she shared so much intimacy with was just... not interested in that anymore. Sexualities aren't phases, and Gigi refused to believe she was straight.
"So you are 100% a big baby breeder now?" Gigi questioned, trying to make it sound as ridiculous as it possibly could; and it worked.
"Yep."
"And nothing will change that?"
"Nope"
"Okay... we will see about that."
