At the game, I walk in with Leighton. I rest my hand on the small of her back and we go up to the bleachers and find a seat together. Once the stands fill in, I put my hand on her inner thigh. She looks at my hand questioningly. And when I don't say anything, she speaks up.

"What're you doing?" She asks.

"You know what I'm doing, trying to make this seem believable." I say.

She lifts my hand up and pushes it over into my own space.

"Not by doing that." She says.

"Then what do you want me to do?" I ask.

She pulls my arm around her shoulders and leans into me.

"Is that good enough for you?" She asks sarcastically.

"I guess." I say.

James goes to hang out with this girl he's talking to. So I am driving Leighton home and apparently hanging out with her in her house until James gets home, since I'm staying with them. I walk her out, holding her hand. We talk about the game on the way home. Once we get there, her mom isn't there either. We go up to her room to sit on her bed and watch tv together on her tv. First we are sitting up on top of her covers but then I get under her covers and lay down.

"I see you don't have any problem getting comfortable. Better not be doing that when my mom or James gets here." She says.

"Why not?" I ask.

"They'll think something's going on that's not really going on."

"Lay down with me."

"No way. We're not at school, so we don't have to act like we're dating."

"If we practice at home, it'll come more naturally at school."

"And you're okay with telling James that as your explanation as to why we're laying together in my bed."

"You worry too much." I say.

And then I grab her shoulders and pull her down next to me.

"Hey! None of that." She says, still laying down.

"None of what?"

"Making me do stuff I'm uncomfortable with."

"Why are you uncomfortable with it?"

"Because, I just am."

But then she gets under the covers.

"Then why'd you get under the covers?"

"Because you're too convincing." She says.

She turns on her side to look at me. And I turn from my back to my side to look at her too. I grab the pit of her knee and pull her leg over on me. She scoots closer and slides her arm under mine, hugging me close. I reach my arm over and hug her close too. Our faces are close and we're staring into each other's eyes.

"Can I kiss you?" I ask.

She nods. I lift up to get on my elbow and lean over to connect my lips to her, teaching her as we go. My hand travels to her butt, squeezing it tentatively. Then my hand slips under the back of her shirt, rubbing her back as we kiss. I pull away and she swings her body over to sit on me.

"Now let me show you what I learned." She says, kissing me deeply.

And then the door opens. And she jumps off me and the bed all in one motion and crawls under the bed. It's her mom. She doesn't see Leighton.

"Why are you up here?" Her mom asks.

"Leighton and I were hanging out until James got home." I say.

"Where is she now?"

Leighton pops up from under the bed, holding a nail kit.

"I'm here, mom. I was just looking for my nail kit."

"Why? You already have your nails done."

"Yeah, Jaxon and I thought it would be funny to do his nails."

"Oh, now that's something I have to see. Show me them when they're done." She says.

"Sure thing." Leighton says.

After her mom leaves we burst out laughing.

"Good save." I say.

"Yeah, I know. Now you see why I worry so much."

"Yeah. But there's no way you're painting my nails." I say.

"I have to, or else she'll know the excuse was a lie."

"Fine, but you have to kiss me one more time."

"Okay." She says, giving me a soft and heavenly kiss before pulling away as she bit my bottom lip and pulled it outwards.

"Wow, you got really good at that." I say.

"I'm a fast learner." She says, getting out nail polish.
