"Katelyn! I'm gonna hang out with a few friends." I yell out.

"Okay, be safe out there Aph."  Katelyn responded, not really paying attention. I roll my eyes and walk out the door with my purse on my right arm and my mask on. I walk down the sidewalk and to the park where my friend Thomas decided we should meet up. I spot the curly headed man on the bench, texting away on his phone. I run towards him and sat next to him on the bench.

"Hey Tommy~" I said. Thomas turned to me and smiled.

"Hey, Aphie!" Thomas replied cheerfully.

"Anyways, how's life?" I ask. It's been 2 months since quarantine and a lot has happened since then. Like the announcement of murder hornets, which I've seen by my house multiple times. And lets just say that they're H U G E.
But there is something bigger going on. Like discrimination. It's horrible and terrifying to think that my friends and I could die because of some dumb cop that decided to pull on gun.

"Um, I don't think it could get any worse. You know, Shelly?" Thomas asked me.
I only nod in response. Shelly was his little sister. Only 14 years old. "Well, she was walking down the sidewalk two days ago, and... She got shot..." Thomas sobbed. I stared in shock before hugging him tightly. I knew Thomas and Shelly were very close to each other, everytime we'd hang out, Shelly was always there.

"D-did she make it...?" I ask, hesitantly.
Thomas shook his head and cried more.

"She died from blood loss. She got shot from the back. And the ambulance didn't make it in time." Thomas said. I shook my head.

"Thomas, I'm so sorry for your loss." I said, still clinging onto him.
Thomas wiped his tears.

"I-it's fine. I'm sure Shell wouldn't want her death to hold us back from our lives." Thomas said with a small smile on his face.

"Of course..." I said, letting go of him.

"Anyways, let's go walk a bit. Maybe get some Starbucks?" Thomas said, standing up. I stand up with him and nodded.

"Yeah, that'd be good." I said. I grabbed his hand and walked away.

(Time skip)

I came back home and sat on the couch. Besides the terrible news of the death of Shelly, the day was good. We ended up talking and walking around the park. That was when Katelyn ran downstairs with Kawaii-chan following behind her.

"APHMAU!" Katelyn yelled. I turned around in confusion.

"Yeah, Katelyn?" I ask.

"MINNEAPOLIS IS BURNING!" Kawaii-chan yelled.
