The whole day I did nothing but lay in bed and allowed my tears to speak for my broken heart I don't understand how my mother could be this livid. She acts like I committed a crime but in actual fact the only crime I committed was to fall in love with someone who is alienated by everyone. yes what he did was wrong but he's not that person anymore and they don't even know the story.
Later on that day I was forced to go and join everyone for dinner I'll have to suck up what happened and act like everything is okay. Brandi dished up for me, I didn't want much food on my plate because I had no appetite. I was very concentrated on my mother as we all sat in the living room eating and watching TV for the first time no words were exchanged from all of us the atmosphere was very tense.
Halfway through our dinner there was a knock at the door we all looked at each other. My heart sank down to my knees hoping that's not King on the other side he can be crazy maybe come here to check up on me since my phone is not working. "I'll get the door" Tae said quickly to avoid this tension.
She put her plate on the small table then stood up and went to get the door I prayed in my heart that Lord please let this not be a nail that's gonna tightly close my coffin. Tae walked in the room with Lay I totally had forgotten that she's supposed to come visit for the long weekend. She had her bag with her. "good evening" she greeted. We greeted back. "I have been trying to call you but your phone goes straight to voicemail."

I looked at my mother who waited for my reply as well. "it fell and broke I'm sorry."
We all kept quiet after that awkwardness eluded the room once more. "You can sit down Layla." She sat down. "tell me something when Brianni said she's going to visit you for that school project did she show up?" From my mother's face you could see she was angry and Lay was scared of my mother, lying to her was hard. It was a trick question for her I could see that she was suspecting that something happened. "for how long have you been covering up for Brianni while she goes off to see that Kingston lowlife?" Lay kept quiet it was best that she kept quiet because my mother was starting to get upset. "if you wanna be Brianni's friend then that's good be her friend, but don't be her friend to help her do filthy things behind my back that will only hurt her in the end. Do we understand each other?"
"Yes ma'am" Lay said like s school kid. My mom had that effect on people because she was is so strict and she used to be exactly like Brandi, she had Brandi when she was young and she always told us how rough her life was. So she was hard core and had trouble controlling her anger always in street fights. Hence she strangled me up the wall ready to kill me earlier on.
"if something like this happens again this little friendship you have with my daughter will certainly come to an end." She threatened. I wasn't gonna stop being friends with Lay because of her. I can't wait to graduate so I can finally leave!
The only reason she held such a hold on me was because she put so much fear into me and I know how her anger can change her. I've seen it first hand on Brandi. She has said and done some stuff that hurt me but they're directed towards Brandi. "Yes ma'am" Lay said politely.
