In the Northern Water Tribe a man named Asunu is with his wife Kemoye as she gets ready to give birth to their first child. Asunu and Kemoye have a forbidden love, Asunu is from the Firenation: Comander actually and best friends with General Iroh and Firelord Ozai and treated like royalty in the Firenation. Kemoye was born and raised in the Northern Water Tribe and is treated as a Princess.
"My love you need to push." Asunu told Kemoye who looks at him incredulously. "I am!" She screams as she pushes. "The baby is almost out three more Moye." Her mother tells her. She does as told as Asunu holds her hand and she grips on tightly causing him obvious discomfort. "Ahhhhhhhh!" She screams one last time before they hear a light cry screaming and wailing.
Kemoye sits up. "Is it a boy or girl?" She asks out of breath. Her mother smiles at Kemoye and Asunu. "You have a beautiful baby girl." Her mother says as she hands the baby to Kemoye who smiles as she takes a hold of her new born child.
Asunu moves closer and sees that the babies eyes are closed. "What are we gonna name her?" Kemoye asks looking at her husband. He smirks. "Well we did agree that if it was a girl which I wanted I could choose the name." He says cockily. Kemoye rolls her eyes before smiling back down at her baby. Then the baby opens her eyes and just stares with happiness.
"I knew she was going to have your eyes." Kemoye says as she stares at her husbands ember eyes and then back down at her daughters ember eyes. "But she has your beautiful skin tone." Asunu says looking at his wife's brown skin. "Okay you two love birds... what are you naming my granddaughter?!" Kemoye's mother asks impatiently.
Asunu looks from his mother in-law to his daughters eyes as she stares up at him with a small smile. He smiles back. "Amosa. Her name is Amosa." He says before looking into his wife's eyes. She smiles at him. "Amosa?" She questions to herself before looking at her daughter then back at her husband. "I love it." She tells him. Then her smile gets even bigger.
"What?" Asunu asks as he looks at his wife right before an older man walks in who's name is Pakku walks in and smiles at the sight he's seeing. "I see my granddaughters been born. Sorry I'm late I had business." He says. "It's okay dad. Her name is Amosa and I can feel she's going to be a powerful bender one day!" Kemoye says happily.
Asunu smiles. "Fire or water? Either way I'd be proud of her." He says looking at his daughter. "As will I." Kemoye says looking at him. "You want to hold her?" Kemoye asks him. He nods vigorously waiting for her to ask him. She slowly hands Amosa over to him and all she does is giggle. "She's a daddies girl." Pakku says with a chuckle. Asunu looks at her. "I can't wait until your able to bend and watch or teach you how to do it! I can't wait to watch you grow up and become the powerful bender your meant to be." Asunu says proudly to his daughter.
Two Years Later
"I shouldn't have to keep doing this Asunu, Arranging visiting hours to see my own child!" Kemoye says angrily as Amosa plays with her mother's hair trying to go to sleep. "Look I made a deal with Ozai years ago that she would be raised in the Firenation. If he would had found out on his own which he would had you would have been killed! He would had told Fire lord Azulon: I'm protecting you and her Kemoye!" Asunu explains to his wife. She scoffs and looks at him with disgust. "That horrible man you call your own brother is her god father! how could you?!" She says as she turns away with Amosa trying to sleep on her mother's shoulder.
Then they hear screams from outside and see fire everywhere. "You said you weren't followed!" She says scared. Was he followed? How couldn't he see this coming? He asks himself in the head. "I-I wasn't! I promise you my love." From outside Asunu hears a familiar voice from the Admiral. "Find as many water benders as you can!" He demands of his soldiers.
"You need to hide Kemoye, you and Amosa need to hide now!" Asunu demands of her. She shakes her head. "Your people are taking my people! I'm fighting back... and if I don't come back Asunu... take care of my baby girl." She says giving a now awake Amosa a kiss on her cheek before she passes Amosa to her father. Kemoye stares into Amosa's eyes who looks on scared hearing screams from outside. Kemoye gives Amosa and Asunu one last look before running off.
"Kemoye! Come back!" Kemoye runs off not turning back running straight into battle. She tries her best with a few others but their taken down. Asunu runs off holding a crying Amosa heading towards his ship which is on the opposite side of the tribe.
1 year later
"I want to see ZuZu!" Amosa tells her father excitedly. Asunu chuckles and gives her a look. "You just saw him yesterday Mosa." Asunu tells her. "Yea bu I wanna play again." She tells Asunu. "Okay fine, but you need to change you've been playing in the dirt." He says as he goes to pick her up but she runs away from him giggling. "I like dis outfit daddy." She says smiling.
She continues to run and just before her dad gets any closer she pushes her hands out as a way to guard herself and without knowing it she bended fire. Her eyes light up as does her father. She looks afraid and stares at him. "I'm sorry." She says. He looks on proud remembering his wife's words when she was born "I can feel she's going to be a powerful bender one day!" He smiles at his daughter. "It's okay Amosa... you didn't mean it... it's time that we tame that fire of yours.. don't you think?" He asks his daughter who's frown turns into a smile and nods agreeing.
6 months later
"It's okay Amosa, we'll take good care of you." Ursa says looking down at Amosa. The royal family as well as a few of the other wealthy and important families are at Asunu's funeral. He had died in war trying to conquer Ba Sing Se with General Iroh but they failed. Zuko and Amosa are slightly confused by why all these people are here looking on sadly. "I want my dad." Amosa says quietly as she looks up at Ursa.
Ursa picks up the three year old as she watches as a casket is being lowered into the ground. Ozai looks at the girl and gives her a smile. "It's okay Amosa, your in good hands." He tells her and all Amosa does is nod before putting her face into Ursa's neck as Ursa gives Ozai a look which he ignores. Ozai looks back at Amosa and taps on her shoulder. She looks up at him before he takes her away from Ursa and holds her. "I think it's time we practice with that fire of yours." Ozai tells her before he walks away from his best friends grave with Amosa in his arms.
9 months later
"Again!" Ozai demands before four year old Amosa run towards her trainer before jumping and screaming then finally delivering fire jabs at the man. The man seems to be distracted by this as he's blocking her attacks. "Now Amosa!" Ozai demands of her before Amosa drops and slides towards the mans legs as the man looks down Amosa kicks fire at his face and he falls down on the ground hurt.
Amosa stands back up with a sly smirk before looking at Ozai. Ozai smirks and shakes his head. "Now Amosa, what did I tell you about aiming for the head?" He asks her not really caring but only doing it for the trainers sake. "That people could easily get hurt blah blah blah. Can I go see mom now?" She asks and he nods. Amosa runs off going straight to Ursa to tell her about how training went.
