The familiar sound of the school bell makes every student pack their stuff as the teacher reminds them the homework they have that’s due next week.

As I walked thru the halls of  West Bridge School of Fine Arts, the halls were filled with students of different cliques just like your typical high school.

Just when I was about to turn to my locker, I saw him walk thru the halls like a royalty he is. As if my life was in a movie, I feel the whole world in slow motion as I saw his dimpled smile that every girl would swoon or even gays would bow down to. I don’t know what I’m feeling inside my chest, I tried to calm my heart down as he pass  me, giving me a smile that he only use when he saw me.

That’s Sean Charles Lew, the school prince, great singer, no not just a great singer he’s amazing at everything, you name it dancing, acting, too much to mention to be honest. Not only he is great at that he is a great cheater, despite the attitude he has of playing almost all of girls’ hearts in this school he was my best friend let me emphasize the was, was my best friend, he changed for unknown reasons, let’s say were just acquaintances but not best friends like the way we used to be.

He hanged out with the cool kids and I’m just one of the norms nothing special. I have my friends like Bailey and Tahani, I’m also part of the school’s drama. Anyways back to where we are, I open my locker and grabbed the stuff that I need for the next class.

Since its sophomore year, there is one semester when gym class will become health class, because of the school’s program of child development or what not; it’s still not announced when this project will occur, since the school wants it to be a surprise to all.

As I entered the gym, enter the locker rooms to change to the schools’ sportswear, as I exit the room, I saw Bailey and Tahani wave their hands, and so I approached them and start mingling while we wait for the teacher.

Once the teacher arrive, the vice principal was also with her that’s when I knew what’s about to happened.

“Good day everyone, today is going to be the day you all been waiting for.” Ms. Bernice said. I heard almost everyone groaned in annoyance, majority heard that this project was hell.

The vice principal soon give a short orientation about the project, “This project is about having the responsibilities of being an adult. While you guys are young, we wish to practice you on how to handle struggles in adulthood. Starting off with taking care a baby for a week, you’ll be partnered with someone that the school decides since we observed not much interaction happened between the two of you. You will name the baby, as like your own and feed, change, burp, and put it to sleep.  As long as you don’t let it cry for over 15 minutes, if you not wish to have an F in your grades.” Ms. Martha said.

“Ok then let’s start with the partnering.”Ms. Bernice said.

While I wait for my name to be called, I engage a small talk between me and the girls.

“Sean and Kaycee.” Ms. Bernice announced.

I feel my heart just stopped as I heard his name in the same phrase with mine. I can feel people gazed to me, especially his. After announcing the partners, we were asked to meet with our partners. It’s weird that I can feel his presence behind me.

As I turn around, I saw his dimpled smile and greet me a simple ‘Hey’; I mumbled a simple ‘Hi’ and returned an uneasy smile. Ms. Bernice hand us over a carrier with a baby that has hazel eyes almost like mine, and jet black hair like his, as if the universe hand us over a baby that resembles almost half of me and half him to us.
