''Let's try something new today,'' I told Ashton, turning off the television.
''Hey,'' he whined, making a pouty face at me. ''Was watching.''
I put the remote on the coffee table. ''Later, Love. Let's do something fun and learn?'' Someone do the honor and punch me, I sound like a teacher trying to teach their students Maths..
He nodded. I'm lucky the boy loves learning new things or I'd be screwed.
''Learn what?'' he asked, raising an eyebrow and sitting in a better positing on the couch instead of the lazy one he had when he was watching cartoons.
I sat beside him and put my laptop on my lap, turning it on. ''What's this?''
''A computer.''
''What is it for? It looks like a smaller television.''
I nodded. ''It does. But it's better than a television, you'll see.'' Ashton was watching the smaller screen with awe as I clicked on the right program.
I found it this morning when I was in my office, writing a new entry in my journal for my latest creation. It says it's for young child trying to learn things and even if Ashton's not a child physic wise, he kinda is in his head. And I don't mean that in a mean way and saying he's stupid. Not at all. Ashton's a smart robot-boy.
His hazel eyes light up when I started the program and he pointed at the screen. ''Dog,'' he said.
''It is,'' I chuckled as a brown cartoon dog barked on the computer screen, the word 'dog' soon appearing. Then, another picture appeared but this time, a frown was on Ashton's face as an empty road showed up.
''Do not know..'' he pouted.
''It's okay if you don't know what it is. You'll learn. Can you repeat the words for me, Love?''
He bite his lower lip, thinking. ''I-I will try.''
I smiled and waited for the next word to come on the screen.
''Dick!'' he exclaimed as a little white duck came up.
I almost choked on my spit and was quick to correct him ''Duck, Ashton. Duck. Not dick.. I-it's another thing, completely different. Repeat after me, please.''
''Sorry,'' he giggled, clasping his hand over his mouth cutely. ''Duck,'' he repeated. He lifted a brow and asked, ''What is dick? What does it means?''
I panicked a little at his sudden question, not knowing what to tell him. I can't tell him what a dick is, he's too young- he's not too young but that's not an important word for the moment. I also can't see myself explaining to the innocent boy what it is.
I'll let Michael do that.
''I-I'll tell you another day, okay?''
He nodded and we went back to the computer screen.
Minutes passed and the curly haired boy became really good at this game. He's truly a quick learner. He got the words wrong a few times but I made him repeat the correct word. Thankfully for me, there was no more weird or awkward moment like with the duck/dick thing but of course, we had to be interrupted by my phone going off. I took it out of my pocket and read the caller ID.
''Continue on you own while I take this, I won't be long,'' I told Ashton, getting up from the couch and setting the laptop securely on his lap.
I went to the kitchen to take the call, not wanting to disturb Ashton in the living room.
