School is on a middle term break now for students to rest and come back in two weeks time to continue the rest of the academic term. Kevin is now left with his mother alone at home since his dad is on a business trip. He has always gotten on with his dad more than with his mom. Kevin wakes up at eight o'clock,  washes down and rushes to the kitchen to get something to eat. With school days he would go to the school's cafeteria for breakfast. He gets to the kitchen only to find out there's no food. He goes to the hall and finds his mom having milk filled oats meal. He asks if some were left for him. His mom looks at him in disdain and looks away again. He asks again and his mom yells at him, "Am I your cook? Can't you prepare something yourself?". "We're home, it would have been nice if you catered for us all", Kevin replies. "Oh you're now the man of the house. Give me orders and I'll follow. You should have followed your dad and left the house for Eva and I. I don't see any sign that you're even my child", Mrs. Taylor says. Eva is Kevin's kid sister. Kevin silently walks out of the house to Chris Hot Foods, a small restaurant across the street to get something to eat. He stayed there till eve before going home. He waited to watch the football match between Manchester United and Chelsea since he's a blue.

Next morning, same incident happened. There was no food for him. He mustered courage and confronted his mom and asked her if he wasn't her son too and why she makes him feel ostracized from the family when his dad isn't around. She slaps him hard right in front of her sister. "There hasn't been a single day I've felt motherly love from you my so called mother", Kevin utters as tears drip from his eyes and glide into his cotton Polo Lacoste shirt. He trod back to his room, sat down to reason. So much were running through his mind. He texted Joel to find out if he was home and went over. "So soon, were you engaged in a fight?", asks Joel. "This is the deed of my mom just because I requested for food". "It's okay let's go get something to eat and then later play video games", Joel cuts Kevin. "Okay but wait, I've got to tell you this. I've never felt or had anything like motherly love since childhood. I do not even remember the last time I spoke to my own kid sister Eva. All I have is my dad and this accounts for my heartless nature when it comes to women. I see them all to be evil". Kevin says shedding tears. "I hope this changes some day", Joel says as he pats Kevin on the shoulder and head to the kitchen.
