"I remember that night so well. Everyone smiling as they weaved baskets. Telling scary stories around the fire. Though as this happened, i heard the sound of a flute. My eyes grew heavier and heavier, i couldn't manage to stay awake. All i remember...
Shiki charged at Avenger with great speed. Avenger returned the favor by doing the same. However, just before the two could clash, Shiki slid underneath Avenger's body. Afterwards, he suddenly slashed the beasts body with his knife at incredible speeds.
The beast growled in pain. The boy just slashed one of its legs multiple times and this only caused its hatred for the boy to grow. Shiki jumped in the air and used the school as a springboard to propel himself towards Avenger.
Suddenly Shiki felt his chest being pierced. When he looked down he saw that the man on top of the wolf used his cape to stab Shiki. Soon the boy tries to cut the cape with his knife, but he didn't manage to put a scratch on it. Soon Shiki was slammed to the ground as Avenger rushed towards him.
The beast jumped in the air and spun it's body as both the wolf and the headless man on top of him held sharp hooks. Seeing this, Shiki darted towards the left as he dodged the strike from above.
When Shiki looked at where Avenger landed, he saw the ground have a deep slash mark where he once stood. He held his knife tightly as Avenger growls at the boy.
"Heh, so you hate humans that much. Can't say i understand that feeling. I don't really feel anything."
Shiki lunged forward towards Avenger. As he goes to slice Avenger's throat, the beast jumped back. However, Shiki dropped his knife into his other hand and used it make a genuine slash onto the wolf's left eye which left a huge slash mark.
"This moment.........where a human's life is on the line. Where nothing else matters but surviving. This is the only time i feel like a human. Its the only time i feel so much joy."
The wolf growls as the headless man on his back used his cape as multiple blades as the edges of the cape slam onto the ground. Shiki jumped to the side to avoid it only for the wolf to headbutt the boy into a wall.
Soon the wolf lunged forward and with the hook in its mouth, it slashed Shiki across his chest. As Shiki grunts in pain, he saw his blood staining the ground. When he looks at Avenger he saw the hatred in his eyes, yet he wasn't in fear. Shiki found some sort of excitement from this.
~Meanwhile~ As Teru was at home, Kou walked in to talk to him. While he's glad his brother trusted him to deal with Hanako, Kou had one thing to ask him.
"Teru-nii....i have something to ask. Why is Shiki fighting supernaturals?"
Teru looked at his brother. He wasn't surprised to hear Kou ask that question. After all, Kou saw Shiki as a brother figure and he was under the impression that Shiki was not involved with the supernatural.
"Believe it or not Kou, Shiki chose to be thrust into this world of ours. He's desperately searching for something."
"Searching for something?"
"Kou, Shiki is empty inside. The only thing he's good at is killing. He wants to find a purpose. Something to fill the emptiness he feels, something to make him feel human. Though secretly, there is only one thing he knows that brings him joy....and he hates it. Whenever his life is in danger, whenever he takes a life, when ever he's close to death......the reason Shiki hates those situations is because deep down....he enjoys every second of it."
~With Shiki~ Shiki is standing away from Avenger as he held his knife tightly. Avenger was howling as it wanted nothing more than to kill the human in front of him. Though it was confused on one thing. Why was Shiki smiling?
As the boy stood up, Avenger felt something different about the boy. As Shiki looks at Avenger, he slowly takes off his glasses. When he removed them completely, his eyes began to change.

"You only go after those who stink of death and blood, right? However, you also have that stench. So going by your rules, if you take your eyes off me.....i'll make you atone with your head."
Avenger suddenly lunged forward towards the boy. The headless man riding the wolf used his cape to surround Shiki from all angles so the boy would have no means of escape. As the wolf jumped high in the air, it was ready to decapitate Shiki with the hook in its mouth.
"Did you really think the same trick would work on me twice?"
Shiki saw the lines of death everywhere. Suddenly, Shiki swung his knife at the cape that was trapping him. Avenger knew that Shiki's knife wasn't sharp enough to cut it. This time was different, when Shiki used his knife he cuts the line of death he saw on the cape and it resulted in the cape being torn to shreds.
Avenger was shocked by this, but it lunged forward. It was determined to cut off Shiki's head. Instead of running, Shiki lunged towards the beast. Avenger held its hook tightly in its jaw and Shiki held his knife tightly. Soon their weapons clashed against each other. While Avenger was merely acting on instinct and swinging the hook randomly, Shiki made sure his knife hit the line of death on Avenger's hook.
Soon the two landed on the ground. Avenger rushed towards Shiki and tried to slash him. But moment's before the hook could touch Shiki, it was shattered into pieces. Shiki used Avenger's brief moment of shock as an opportunity to strike back. Shiki suddenly disappeared from Avenger's sight as he dashed forward.
"It looks like i found my answer. My thirst for blood was stronger than your hatred, Avenger."
Shiki was suddenly behind Avenger. When the beast saw Shiki, it looked at at the boy's knife. It saw that that the knife was coated in blood. Suddenly the beast howled in pain. As Shiki looked at Avenger, he saw the wolf and the headless man on top of it were cut into seventeen pieces.
As he saw the apparition disappearing, Shiki puts his Mystic Eye Killers back on his face. As he did, Shiki no longer saw the lines of death. After seeing that the ghost was no more, Shiki began to walk home.
"Dammit. In the end, bloodshed is all i'm good for."
Shiki leaves the school grounds with a frown on his face. As he did, a mysterious figure is seen at the school. The figure hid inside the shadows so it wouldn't be seen. It didn't say anything, but as it looked at Shiki, it had one thought. Shiki would be its next meal.
