Chapter 1

Dipper's P.O.V.

  Today was me and Mabel's birthday. We were turning 16. I got out of bed and swam over to Mabel's room. I knocked on her door and asked if I could come in. Once I heard her say I could come in I entered and closed her door behind me. "Can you believe it Bro Bro, we're finally turning 16!" Mabel exclaimed happily. Mabel was currently brushing her chestnut brown hair. Her pink tail shimmering in the sunlight that peeked through her window. "I know Mabel. Hey, do you think they'll finally agree to let me leave the village?" I asked her. It's been my dream sinse we were 8 to travel the ocean and discover all it's creatures and mysteries. "I don't know Dip'n Dots, maybe." She responded. They probaly won't just like any other year. I've always listened to them and stayed in the village like they said but not anymore. This year I will leave the village. If they say no I'll just sneak out well everyone is asleep. "C'mon dip dop let's go." Mabel said as she grabbed my hand and dragged me downstairs. Our Gruncles were waiting for us down there. Our Gruncles, Stanley and Stanford, were twins like me and Mabel. Gruncle Stan's  (auto corrected to Satan's) tail was a dark gray with specks of black. Gruncle Ford's tail was light gray with specks of white. "Happy Birthday kiddos!" Gruncle Stan said as he pulled us into a hug. "I hope you two are hungry because Wendy went out hunting earlier and came back with your favorite, Amberjack."

   Gruncle Ford said as he went into the kitchen to get the fish. "Yes!" Mabel exclaimed as she did a few backflips. I chuckled at her excitement. After we ate we went to the village square where the rest of the village was waiting for us. Sense we were turning 16 the village wanted to throw us a big birthday party. The party was good I suppose. I'm not much for parties so I just hung out on the sidelines. "Hey Dipper!" Wendy said as she swam up to me. "Hey Wendy." Wendy is one of my best friends and kinda like a sister to me and Mabel. She's an amazing hunter and has a gorgeous green tail that compliments her emarld green eyes. But don't go thinking I like her in a romance way. Like I said she's like a sister to me, plus she's dating Robbie. Also I don't swing that way. You see I'm gay, have been sense I was 5. "So Dipper have you asked your Gruncles if you can leave the village yet?" Wendy asked. "No I haven't. You're still gonna help me leave if they say no right?" I asked because she was the only one who knew about my plan to leave. "Of course Dipper. Don't worry I got your back no matter what!" I nodded in response. I waited until after the party was over before I finally swam up to my Gruncles. "Gruncle Stan, Gruncle Ford. I'm 16 now can I please leave the village now?" I asked fully prepared for when they say no and give me some excuse why. "No Dipper you can't. You're still too young and it's too dangerous." Gruncle Ford said and Gruncle Stan agreed with him. So surprise surprise they said no, again. "Alright I understand." I said and swam towards home. As I passed Wendy I gave her two taps on her shoulder indicating her they said no. She nodded and I continued home. Later that night I heard a knock on my window. I opened it and Wendy swam into my room. "Alright you ready Dipper? I got you everything you'll need and a weeks worth of fish.  I'll escort you to the outskirts of the village and than you're on your own." She said in a hushed voice as she gave me a brown satchel with the supplies I needed. I took it from her and nodded. She grabbed my wrist and quietly brought me to the outskirts of the village. "Good luck Dipper, remember you have enough fish to last a week before you'll need to hunt for more." "I know Wendy, and thanks." I swam out of the village and for first time I felt truly free.
