"She's late," Rina said nervously.
"She will be here soon," I reassured her.
Alex was supposed to be here a while ago and that's not a good sign. She could have gotten caught or something worse. I held Rina's and Nee's hands as we waited. Finally, I spotted a familiar blond head amongst the trees. I smiled as I watched her get into place, sweat dripped down her brow. I guess even Alex has things that make her nervous. She wiped her face with her sleeve. I turned back to the ladies with a smile.
"She's here."
Nee picked up her basket that was filled with petals and stepped out of the shade of the trees towards Alex. I gave Rinas hand a squeeze before letting go. She grabbed my arm.
"You can do this. "I whispered in an effort to comfort her.
She nodded and gave me a look of determination. We walked towards the priest. I could feel Rina's grip on my arm as we got closer. I smiled as I noticed Nee on the opposite of the priest that Gregory was on. She had silent tears flowing down her face and based on her heavy breathing and the hand over her mouth she's trying her best to be that silent. I shook my head and tried to hide my grin. You can count on Nee to be the most emotional person at an event. When Rina reaches the priest she moves next to Alex and I moved in front of Nee to watch the whole event. The whole wedding thing really doesn't make much sense, so I paid attention to my environment rather than the words that the priest spoke. It wasn't until I heard Alex speak that I started to pay more attention.
The sweat on her forehead had doubled and she shuffled her feet around nervously as she spoke. "So umm, I am not good with words to be honest with you guys. I'm more of action before words type of person, so um.. bear with me for a moment." She closed her eyes and pulled out a piece of paper, then licked her lips before reopening her eyes and continuing. "When I first met Rina I expected her to be sheltered, naive, and to act like she was better than everyone else and while I will admit she was very sheltered, is naive, and has her moments of I'm better than you, she is not a bad person." She looks Rina in the eye. "I wasn't the nicest to you, but let's be honest I'm not the nicest person. I enjoy getting to know you. We have gotten closer through doing yard work that one day and talking to each other. You should know that the more I tease a person the more I care, so please deal with my unbearable behavior."
We all laughed at that.
"I will try my best not to hurt you, so please don't leave me and I promise to always be by your side however you need me."
At that moment Nee couldn't control her tears or her noise. She started to cry louder. I put my arm around her in an effort to calm her down. Alex snorted.
"Of course Nee would cry. Well, it's your turn, my lady. " Alex announced.
Rina bit her lip then blinked slowly before starting. "I don't think you know this but I count you as my savior. Every woman deserves her knight, the knight that slays her dragons. These dragons can be both physical and emotional. You saved me from both without even realizing it and I can't help but admire even more because of it. Even when you tease me I can tell you mean good. I know you have a lot to worry about, so I would like to help you fight your own dragons. Whoever said laddies cannot fight alongside her knight? I want to fight both types of dragons with you. Will you let me? Like Alesta once said, I think we would be a perfect team. We could get away with everything. The diplomat and the jester. That sounds good to me."
"Well, you know me well enough to know you have to use an analogy about fighting to get me to understand." Alex joked.
\everyone even the priest laughed at that.
"Alex Angelsen do you take lady Rina to be your wife for as long as you both shall live through sickness and in health."
Alex smiled. "Of course, why not? It should be fun."
I rolled my eyes at her statement.
"Do you lady Rina take Alex to be your husband for as long as you both shall live through sickness and in health."
"I do."
"Then I pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."
Much to all of our surprise Alex actually kissed Rina. I think the priest and I were the only ones that did not gasp, even Rina gasped. It was a very simple kiss. Just a peck on the lips, but it symbolized so much more than that. Alex was committed no matter what she will stick by Rina's side. Alex likes Rina just as much as Rina likes her, if not more. Afterall Alex is very secretive. I smiled at them, both of them had red faces, obviously embarrassed about the whole event. Nee finally wiped her tears away. The priest accepted some money from Gregory, then walked straight out of the forest. I helped Nee and Gregory gather all of our things as the newly wedded couple gathered their thoughts. Alex snapped out of it first.
Whistling, she said. "look at the time. It looks like we have to leave now."
She grabbed the still blushing Rina's hand and took their bag from Gregory who was holding it for them.
"Time to head to the capital. Who knows what will happen after this. I surely don't." Alex said.
"That's life," I responded.

Author's note
this chapter is a short one, but I hope you still enjoyed it nonetheless. I really can't think of much to say in this little note, but I want to thank everyone who has read up to this point. I realize that this isn't your typical Wattpad romance with a CEO or some mythical creature, but it is a story. I am very young and haven't experienced much. I'm learning to write and edit with every day that goes by. This is not a perfect book, but it is one of the best stories I have ever written. Thank you! I hope everyone is having a fantabulous day!
