Dares and Heartbreaks: TaeJoo & KangGook

Chapter 9

Kang Gook sat down on his bed thinking how the roles had been reversed. Before the incident, ae Joo was the one who said I love you often but now he was the saying it first and more. He sat there wondering how he was going to convince Tae Joo to go the party with him. The fourth-year students had arranged a huge farewell party before the end of the semester, and it was happening the following week on a Friday night.

The party had been approved by the Dean since it was their last year at school, he wanted to make it memorable for them. Kang gook's friends had convinced him to join but he was sceptical on leaving Tae Joo alone.

It was Monday afternoon when he went to Tae Joo's class so that they could have lunch together when he saw him sitting with a guy talking animatedly. He seemed happy, his smile big on his small face. He waited as they excited the room and he snaked his arm around a startled Tae Joo who turned around and to face Kang Gook.

"its just me" he said as held Tae Joo's waist possessively.

Tae Joo playfully slapped Kang Gook's arm, "you scared me" he turned to Dae kyung who stood there watching the exchange with a curious eye, "I'll see you later?"

Kang Gook pulled Tae Joo away from the curious man before he even responded to Tae Joo

"yhaa slow down I might fall"

Kang Gook didn't slow down until they were safe in their room. He embraced Tae Joo and sniffed his neck.

"i need a favour from you"

"you know I can do anything for you" Tae Joo replied as he hugged an insecure Kang Gook back.

"can you please go with me to the party?"

"you mean the party this Friday?"  Tae Joo asked as he retreated form the hug to look at Kang Gook's face.

"yes. I want to go but I don't want to leave you behind so please come with me. I know how much you dislike crowded places, but I need you there"

Tae Jo was uncertain, "I can stay with Dae Kyung behind if you don't want me to be alone"

Kang Gook shook his head vehemently in denial, "that's not an option" he was jealous, "I really want to go with you please" he begged

"you know I don't do well with the crowd" Tae Joo complained

"I know, I'll not leave you alone just please go with me"

He agreed begrudgingly. He was not going to have fun at all.

Before they knew it, it was Friday and the party were taking place in one of the halls in school. the two boys got dressed in comfortable clothes. Tae Joo insisted on wearing one of Kang Gook's jackets because it fitted perfectly with what he was wearing.

Right before they entered the room, they passed a casually dressed Dean coming out from the room. He stared at Tae Joo in recognition as he walked away. When they got to the hall it was arranged to look like a club. Kang Gook spotted his friends as soon as he walked in. Lights dim and low glowing lights on the four corners of the room. The centre was the dancefloor with disco light. It was nice, the school clubs had worked hard on it. 

Kang Gook grabbed a cider not wanting to be drunk. Tae Joo grabbed sealed bottled water. A while later they were dancing crazily on the dance floor. It had been a while since Kang Gook saw Tae Joo let go and enjoy himself. They eventually got tired and went to sit on a small table of two. Tae Joo took off the jacket sweating. Kang Gook sat directly across his group of friends. Tae Joo could see how much he wanted to be with his friends.

Tae Joo excused himself, "I'm going to get another water would you like anything?" he offered as he got up. Kang Gook shook his head no.

When he got there, he met Dae Kyung looking for a drink.

"surprised to see you here" Dae Kyung sparked a conversation,

"yeah I came with Kang Gook," Tae Joo said turning to look at their table but saw no one. He looked around the room and saw Kang Gook standing at his friend's table.

"I don't see him anywhere?" Dae kyung asked curious as he searched for the man in question.

"yeah, he has gone to sit with his friends" Tae Joo said pointing in their direction.

"ah I see, would you like to hangout with me and my friends?" He nicely offered and Tae Joo shook his head.

"I'm going to head back I'm already tired. I'll see you around" he said and exited the room.

Kang Gook was drawn by the cheers from his friends he couldn't resist going to hear what the dare is all about. Of course, it was about a dare. Nothing made them happy more than a dare.

"that's too dangerous how about stealing a kiss from the jock?"

The boys laughed, "you want to die?"

"wait...is he talking about Min Ho?" Kwang Soo asked stupefied by his friend's idea

"have you seen him shirtless?" Seung Ho added

"I fear his girlfriend more than him" Pil Hyun confessed.

"how about busting the principal's car. Slash all four of them" Kang Gook suggested.

"where are all these crazy ideas coming from?" Pil Hyun asked fascinated by Kang Gook's enthusiasm.

"it's been a while since I've done this."

"by the way where is Tae Joo I don't see him anywhere" Lee Jun said looking around.

"Oh Right" Kang Gook realised right then that its been a while since Tae Joo had gone to get some drinks. He went and looked around, but he didn't see him anywhere.

He went out of the room to make a phone call and was surprised by Tae Joo saying he's gone back to their room to sleep first.

A part of him was disappointed but another part was happy he was going to have fun. He was only a college student after all.

He got back to his group of friends with a new determination in his step.

"LET'S GET THIS PARTY STARTED!!!" someone screamed, and the crowd cheered.

Unfortunately, that was the last part of his memory.

The beginning of a new nightmare.
