Chapter 3

Flashback 2

Kang Gook had waited until Tae Joo was in his seat whilst watching by the door. He had escorted him to his lecture room because he was afraid, he would get lost. He was like a mother leaving her child first day at school. He waved from the door and Tae Joo returned with a nod a smile on his face class. He promised to come and take him to the next class.

As soon as he was out of sight Tae Joo looked forward and a lecturer was already standing in front of the large room writing his name with a marker on the board and talking about his expectations for the semester.

All of the lectures they had today were introductory classes with different lecturers talking about what they were expecting and without realising it, it was now lunch time.

Before Tae Joo could think of what to do he heard his phone buzzing in his pocket and knowing there is only one person who could call him, answered the call without checking the caller id.

"Where are you right now? Do you know where the dining hall is?" Gook said his background full of noises.

"yhaa I can guess that much with the direction most students are going"

With a very low voice he said "that's my boy now come to the same direction and I will wait for you by the door. Even if I wave, you will not be able to see me it's quite packed in here."

"Okay" he said hanging up.

He did as instructed and followed the direction of the crowd. He stood frozen at the double door of the Cafeteria. The room was crowded. He felt a hand tugging his arm and smiled knowingly.

"yhaa slow down or I might fall" he scolded lightly a smile on his face

"I want you to meet some people " Kang Gook said as they got to a table with four other guys.

Shit! Tae Joo cursed in his head. His smile slowly fading. This was one of his biggest fear. Kang Gook making new friends and not having time for him. That is why he had wanted to get in the same class with him.

"meet my group partners, we have been put in groups for the whole semester they will become friends and you will see them often so I just wanted you get familiar with the faces. That's Kwang Soo, Pil Hyun, Seung Ho and Lee Jun" he finished introducing his new friends and he turned to them to get their attention.

"uhhm guys meet my other half". Tae Joo smiled. He liked that Kang Gook did not even hesitate. He remembered the last time Kang Gook had introduced him to his girlfriend as his other half, it had sounded weird for her because lets face it, it should have been her being introduced as such.

They all turned their heads and raising their brows in confusion and one of them said,

"You didn't tell us that you swing that way" Kwang Soo asked

"As a matter of fact, No I don't swing that way" He replied taking a seat. He could see the even more confusion written on their faces as they tried to make sense of the situation.

"He is my brother and best friend"

"oh are you related? Like from the same family or cousins?" this time it was Pil Hyun's turn to ask

"Neither " Tae Joo chirped in and went silent whilst they waited for a longer explanation.

"you wouldn't understand even if we explain but just so you know we are both straight and single ready to mingle" he said the last part wiggling his eye brows and the boys snickered at him whilst others laughed.

Tae Joo could feel his hair standing. A creepy feeling of someone watching him. He looked around and saw one guy who had been introduced as Lee Jun glaring at him under his round spectacles. He looked cute, his eyes greyish. Brownish hair with bangs covering his forehead. He looked like a nerd.

The question was why he was glaring at him like that. His thoughts are interrupted by Kang Gook who pulls him closer to him to sit down right at the edge of the table. The guy giving him looks was seated at the other side of the table right at the opposite corner. He could still see him stealing glances when he thought no one was watching.

At one-point Tae Joo raised an eyebrow of questioning. It was making him feel uncomfortable. Kang Gook could feel his distress and nudged his shoulder,

"are you ok?" he asked

Tae Joo nodded. And they continued to eat their food. Gook was not convinced but decided to let it slide.

The rest of the day went by a blur as lecturers came and went after introducing themselves. Tae Joo did not realise it was time to go home when he felt his phone buzzing again. He raised his head and looked at the door to see Kang Gook leaning against it, shaking his phone in his hand.

Then he started talking in silly sign language not even worried people will think he is stupid. Firstly, he marched on the same spot then pointed to the direction of their hostel, then he started eating invisible food, clasped his hands together tilted his head and brought his hands on his cheeks whilst rocking from side to side. But Tae Joo understood it so well. Well he was simply saying let's go to the hostel and eat then sleep. It had been a long day.

"You could have just waited to tell me when I was out silly" He laughed at his silliness. Being together all their lives just made it easy for them to understand each other. Kang Gook laughed as he hung his hand on his friend's shoulder. They started asking each other how their day had been. Kang Gook confronted him about what had happened in the Cafeteria during lunch and Tae Joo told him everything not sparing any details.

He thought his College days were going to be like this. If only he knew...
