Ezra had called the witches and explained the situation to them.
We went to see them the next morning, the young girl leading us to a room in the back, filled with charms and jewellery.A woman around our age entered. Beautiful, unblemished skin, just barely darker than the young girl's. Her hair was similar, but with red highlight. She wore a halter top which showed her stomach, with dark jeans and sandles, onyx and moonstones as her necklace.
"Ezra, it is nice to finally meet your one. I am Hex." She placed out a hand, and I took it gently, her fingers slid to my wrist, feeling my pulse. I allowed it, and offered a smile. The older woman from before then entered.
I placed my hand out to her and as she took it I felt strange. "Alexandria." I said the name out loud as it entered my thoughts. She let go of my hand and smiled. "You have a gift child. Being of human creation, you have more power than many pure Vampires. It is foresight that has given you these dreams. Most only have inclings, like the dream of your friend, it was foresight telling you that he would appear soon. But these other dreams are different, they are not inclings, they are true visions. When you are together, you can pass them on to Ezra."
"What should we do?" Ezra was pinching the bridge of his nose, stress was obvious. I took hold of his hand and squeezed it lightly.
"What if we go there?" I asked.
"It would be dangerous." Alexandria.
"No, I won't put you in danger." Ezra.
"But we'll be prepared! We can fight them and be ready." I offered.
Ezra held his mouth, trying to think.
"If someone is looking for you, they may come for you at another time. Or, by going there, you will bring the vision to fruition."
"We have to try Ezra."
"I can't lose you Gin."
"You won't. I swear I'll never leave you. I love you Ezra, and I would never hurt you like that."
"Ezra, take this." Alexandria handed him a silver bracelet with opals in it. "If you decide to go, make sure she's wearing it."
"Thank you." Ezra smiled.
"No payment is required my dear boy. We are here for you. Save your strength."
She gave him a hug, then gave me one. "Be safe." She whispered.Once home, Ezra headed for the room downstairs.
I quickly grabbed his arm. "They said no payment was needed."
"I know, I'm just going down to sort some stuff out, I won't be long." He kissed the top of my head. "Don't stress, everything will be alright." He smiled, then turned and walked away.
I decided to lay down in Ezra's bed, it smelt of his scent, as though he were right beside me. Closing my eyes, I fell into darkness, the comfortable darkness I had become accustomed to.
I felt movement, something was moving around me, then I felt sick, my head spinning as my stomach turned. I couldn't think straight, I couldn't remember where I was, or who I was.
Something wrapped around my waist and I suddenly felt safe, the sickness leaving me.When I awoke, Ezra was beside me on the bed, his arms around me, his head beside mine. I watched him sleep, the scent of whiskey on his lips as his gentle breath caressed my face. My fingers ran through his hair, like running barefoot through freshly cut grass. I felt something, like a memory passing through my thoughts.
Stephen's house, he doesn't seem happy to see me at his door. He goes back inside, then hands me something soft. Unknown words escape my mouth, which cause him rage. His eyes are red with anger, he turns away and slams the door.'What was that?' I wonder.
After deciding no sense will come from it, I head to the bathroom and fill the bath, watching the water swirl. I laid down and took a breath, before submerging my head beneath the water's surface. I can feel Ezra sleeping deeply. I can't seem to feel Stephen though, maybe because he is far away.
I realise it's been a few minutes, and lift my head from the water, though I was not desperate for air.
I needed a swim, not a bath. I went through the wooden door at the end of the hall. The memory of going through it the first time was still fresh, but I refused to think about it.
Brick walls blocked the view of any neighbours or onlookers. Still undressed from the bath, I dove in, unworried by my nakednes, the cool water rushing passed me. I hadn't been swimming since highschool, yet it was my favourite form of exercise. I'd always loved water, the weightless feeling, the serenity, it was so natural and calming.
After several laps in circles, I decided to just float, and after about two hours of that, I decided to check on Ezra.
He was still asleep, I knew he was in the deep sleep, his breathing unnoticeable, and his face completely expressionless. I placed a hand on his forehead and it was colder than usual. A worrying thought entered my mind. How many of us had been buried over the years, due to the assumption we were dead? I shook the idea away.
"Ezra?" I called gently. "Ezra, wake up." His chest rose as his eyes opened."Gin?"
"Hey."
"Why is your hair wet?"
"I went for a swim."
He smiled as he sat up. "Did you enjoy it?"
"Yes, very much so."
"Are you ready for tonight?"
"As ready as I can be. I think we should have a quick feed first though."
"Good idea, we'll need our strength."

We now sat on the bench from my dream, Ezra watched the trees carefully, waiting. The air was still, with a mild scent of sap and old blossoms.
"Who do you think they are?"
"My guess would be hunters."
"Do you think it's because of me?"
He looked over at me and smiled. "No, I don't think that. This isn't your fault, but your human heritage might have attracted their attention."
"I think I hear something." Foot steps and leaves brushing passed clothing.
"Let's go." He took my hand and led me around the trees. We did a circle, and were just ahead of them in the shrubs by the path. Staying completely still and slowing our breathing, we could easily hear them approach. There were two men in full black clothing, holding guns.
My heart felt strange as my mind went fuzzy, and as I watched I realised why.
Stephen was behind them, watching their backs. My heart sank, I had to bite my lip to avoid movement.Once we were sure they had moved on, we headed back to another bench, in the other direction. The animals in the trees made it harder to hear them, whereas the benches were out in the open.
"I can't believe this. I'm so confused."
"It doesn't matter, don't think about that now."
"How can I not? Everyone I love ends up betraying me." My head sunk in to my hands.
"I love you Gin." He lifts my head and places a gentle kiss on my lips. Then I hear a quiet thud, just below my head.
