letters from mother (ON HOLD)

chapter 2: knowledge

we arrive late at school as we always do and once again I am late to my
first period class which is creative writing (my fave, also my moms). I run down the hallway and into the room as my name is being called "Norah Rowan Christensen" the old hag of a literature teacher called out. she always insisted on calling me by my full name which was very strange to me. I suspect that she did it to my parents too. she turns and glares at me "late again ms. Christensen, just like your father always was" I flush knowing that all the attention was on me and take my seat as she begins teaching the class. "today, ladies and gentleman you will be writing a journal entry about any subject you wish. some ideas are maybe love interests, life issues or
family." the teacher stares me down when she says love interests as if she expects that I have a big secret or something of that sort. she hands out our papers and we get writing for the 1 hour and 20 minute block of time allotted for first period. in that time I get nothing written. I thought about writing about my dreams or maybe about my parents or their love story or something but I realized that I didn't know how they met and for some reason that really irritated me so I sat, lost in thought about how in the world my "star-crossed lover" parents met. the bell rang and Immediately I ran out of the classroom to find nell. she was at her locker surrounded by her friends, typical. after wading through the giggling group I finally reached my sister. "nell I gotta talk to you" she looks at me and I use "the look" which tells her that I'm serious. she separates from her parasitic friends and walks over to seclusion with me
"what is it Norah?" "uh um do you know how mom and dad met?" her face contorts a little as she thinks and it gets worse when she comes to the realization that she had no idea either.
without saying anything she walked away.
