the leather-bound book was inscribed with fancy letters that spelled mine and my sisters names plus the full names of my parents. I picked the book up off the floor and traced the letters gently with my fingers. n-o-r-a-h all beautifully inscribed in white embroidery thread. I stood up clutching the book to my chest mulling over the possibilities of what it could be instead of watching where I was walking resulting in myself falling over Kaiylee who was sleeping on the floor near my bed. she woke up with an exhausted groan and sat up. "morning already?" i bent down and put my finger over my lips signaling for her to hush. almost inaudibly I whisper "no but come with me." she seems confused and half-asleep but decides to trust the person whom she still can't see. I guide her out of the room and her eyes finally adjust to the artificial light coming from the bathroom. "Norah, what are we doing? you're bleeding again." she grabs a towel and dabs at the cut which helps slow the bleeding. "but anyway Norah why are we up at this ungodly hour?" she says as she continues dabbing at my wound. instead of replying i extend my arm showing her the mysterious book. she drops the towel and grabs the book gently from my grip turning it over in her hands. "where did this come from? I thought I knew everything" she looks up at me wide-eyed with a hint of curiosity in them. she opens it slowly and he face drops when she see's that there's nothing inside, at least to her. as soon as she opens it I hear a flurry of sounds and different colors and scenes but by far the most prominent noise to be heard is the screaming. the piercing screams and wails of pain and sadness. they broke my heart. i also hear a bang come from my room and nell's voice ringing out "ouch!" she must've heard it too. I slam the book out of her hand to stop the mass of sensory pleasers. Kaiylee stares at the book that is on the floor for a minute before the questions flood out of her. "did you see something? how come I couldn't see it? was there noise or something? I didn't see anything! maybe it's like one of those books from Harry Potter! that would be so cool norah!" I didn't know any of the answers to these questions so I stayed silent until she finished and nell came trudging out of our room. "what the hell was that" she questioned rubbing her eyes as the adjusted to the light. so he had heard it too. strange, very strange, maybe it's a twin thing.
