Being born as a human, every one of us have positive as well as negative traits within us. How we convert those negative ones to positive lies the challenge. A few become successful while the rest don't. One such trait is selfishness.
Let me start with an instance from the epic Mahabharata.
In the kurukshetra war, Lord Krishna converses with Maharathi Karna thus explaining him the motive behind Duryodhan's friendship.
Karna, who was a great archer always wanted to prove his superiority over Guru Dhronacharya's student Arjun. This sense of competition in him kept building as time passed by and which was the main reason why Duryodhan wanted to be friendly to him.
In the kuru war, as Karna speaks about his loyalty towards his friend Duryodhan and tells Lord Krishna that he cannot leave his friend's side. Lord Krishna tells him the same. He explains him that if Duryodhan's motives were so pure, and had he been a true friend of Karna. He would have done something good for the people in the lower caste community to which karna belonged to. He would have implemented rules that would have helped in the development of the lower sections. But he never did anything like that, his main motive behind this friendship was the burning envy between Karna and Arjun. He loved Karna because Karna hated Arjun. He was selfish and his motives were not pure.
Similarly, in today's scenario as well. We as human beings should stop thinking about ourselves and extend a helping hand to those without home and stray animals. Wake up the humanity hidden within you and win over your selfishness. You need not do wonders, but just feeding the needy and giving them some shelter within your apartment doesn't cost you much.
Hearing news like Doctors being thrown out of their apartments and rent houses is pathetic. Don't be so cruel to the ones who are working all day to save people's lives. Don't be selfish and think only about yourself, it's time to bring a change in our thoughts. Migrant workers are suffering without shelter, stray dogs, cow etc are dying for food and shelter. All you can do is open your apartment gate and give them some space to live.
Be human and help humans and other animals through this tough phase.
