TRIGGER WARNING: blood
RICKY'S POV
i closed the door of my house quietly behind me and leaned against it, sighing happily. gosh, lola malou was right. i was totally in love with nini, and i love it. i hadn't told her yet, and i don't plan to for a while. i don't really know if she feels the same way, but if she does.... oh that would be so awesome. i'm just going to enjoy this while i can. i love her...... wow.
the grin on my face hadn't left since i dropped nini off a denny's. i can't believe she's mine, gosh, i'm so lucky. we have come such a long way too, thinking back to the beginning of this year, it's been a crazy ride. i have a good feeling about nini and i. we will stick, i just know it.
i slipped my vans off, leaving them beside the door and making my way into the kitchen. i knew that was the one place in my house my dad would be in because, let's be honest, we are men. we like to eat.
"dad? i literally just had the best night of my-" suddenly i heard a loud crash and the sound of glass breaking, followed by a terrible smell. "life.... dad??"
i ran into the kitchen as fast as i could, only to see my dad crouched on the floor, covering his face and a lady hovering above him. there was glass all around the floor surrounded by some sort of liquid. it smelled awful.
"ricky?" my dad croaked, looking up at me from the ground. "ricky, get out of here! now!"
i took a step back, wearily. "dad, what's going on?"
and that's when i saw her.
my mom turned around, her dark eyes glaring into my soul. i know that sounds dramatic, but that is purely what it felt like. her eyes were already a deep brown, but somehow, now they were darker then i had ever seen them. they were kind of cloudy too....
"ricky, run. just run." my dad strained, trying to stand up, only to fall back down on the floor again. i noticed his left eye was swollen and bruising, and his hand was dripping blood.
"i can't leave you here!" i shouted. my mom took a step closer to me. she was so close to me that i could feel her breath on my face. it reeked with some sort of smell... wait. "your drunk...." i muttered under my breath.
my dad sat up on his knees, holding his head in his hands. "ricky." he groaned out in pain, falling onto the palm of his hand.
"QUIET MIKE!" my mom shouted. "he doesn't want you! i don't want you! you are so worthless!"
i grabbed my moms arm gently, pulling her away from my dad. "mom, stop." i said softly. "you are drunk, let's go get you some rest and then you can TALK to dad about whatever this is in the morning."
"get off of me, ricky!" mom spat. "stay out of it. you know nothing about love." my mom ripped her arm out of my grip, turning back to my dad once more. "he learned that from you! you suck at love!"
"come on, lynn. you don't mean that." my dad said sadly, hurt flashing in his eyes.
"OF COURSE I MEAN IT!" she shouted. "all you've ever done since we've been married is mess things up. you are always correcting me, criticizing me, judging me, and making me feel like i am NEVER good enough!"
my dad looked up at her, his eyes soft and gentle despite the heated argument. "when have i ever done that to you?"
"you're doing it right now!" my mom snapped. "you are looking at me like i'm crazy. I'M NOT CRAZY, MIKE!"
"no, you're not, lynne." my dad slowly stood up and put both of his hands on my moms arms, rubbing softly. "you are just drunk right now. let's get you to bed. please?"
