"So, habitat for humanity, eh? What is it?" Bow asked.

"We build affordable housing for people who need shelter. It's how I know Kyle... my mom wanted us to spend time with her after the divorce and also give back to the community at the same time, so she signed my brother and me up to help build his house. We had a lot of fun and I realized that I wanted to be a construction worker and fix things. I was only thirteen at the time."

"So how did you meet Kennedy?" Glimmer asked. "Was it through Habitat for Humanity?"

"No, actually. We all signed up together after we all became friends. I met her at work. I was doing Groceries to Go, and she was at the deli. I thought she was nice and pretty so I always tried to get her to help me so I could talk to her. I stalked her friends so I could ask about her, and after I found out she was bi, I asked her on a date. She said no. A month later, I asked her to go to a pride rally with me, as friends. She said yes. That's where she met Kyle. She and him hit it off and now we're all friends. We realized we all liked volunteering and we did Habitat for Humanity. We met Linda and Olivia through that. We were put into groups and Linda was put on ours and Olivia was our supervisor. We're all really close now. Of course, Linda and Olivia had other responsibilities, but if they didn't, I'm sure they would have helped you on this mission," Tessa replied.

Halfway through the road trip, Kennedy called Tessa and said that Kyle wanted to stop at the nearby Hardee's and get food.

Tessa agreed and both cars pulled in. Kennedy was the first one out. Catra the second. "She was singing Frozen the whole time," Catra wailed. "It was awful."

"Well, I enjoyed it," Adora said.

"Of course you did! You're Adora and you're nice to everyone," Catra said, but it wasn't in a rude way.

"Well, I think Anna and Elsa are very powerful, thank you very much," Kennedy argued.

"She sings Disney all the time when we're building houses. You'll learn to tune her out." Tessa said.

Kennedy laughed. "Fair enough, if I'm allowed to tune out your conspiracy theories."

"I am starving!" Kyle announced, walking straight to the restaurant. He didn't even wait for his friends.

"Let's get some food," Kennedy said, following Kyle's lead.

They gathered in the small restaurant.

"Hardee's?"

"Yep! Super popular. There's not one near where I live, so I only get to enjoy it on road trips," I said.

"It's a nice break. We don't eat it a ton because it's not nearby, so we don't really get sick of it," Kyle added.

We ordered our food, and since we were halfway to D.C., we started talking strategy.

"So, we'll be getting there at night, and that will work in our favor..."

"Are there any... like, high statues? I feel like the magic might work better if it's heightened."

"The Washington Monument," Kennedy said.

"You know, my internet friends and I believe..."

"Tessa, not right now," Kyle said. "It is not the time for your dumb and probably false conspiracy theories."

Tessa grumbled something but didn't finish sharing her theory.

Tessa stole a fry from Kennedy's plate. She gave Tessa a look, especially because she has her own, but Kennedy didn't say anything.
