7. Dreams

Heather's POV

I lie in my bed, awake. I can't sleep, and I'm not even hungover. 

When the my window opens, and in climbs Veronica. 

"Oh, Veronica, nice of you to drop by." 

"Sorry Heather, I-, I just.." She says shaking

I immediately know somethings wrong, she's scared.

"Ronnie?" I say, softly

"Sorry, I just, " She starts.

"Nightmares?" I ask sharply.

She nods shakily.

"Why did you come to me then?"

I see hurt flash in her eyes, I didn't mean to be rude. But it's too late.

I try and change the topic.

"Come in, I'll get you some milk."

Veronica walks in hesitantly, and flops onto the bed.

As I return with a glass of milk, it becomes apparent that she has dozed off. She sleeps peacefully. She looks like an angel. 

I gently set down the glass of milk on the bedside table, trying to to bother her. 

I lie down on the bed next to her, I'll just rest next to her for now, I think. I'll move to the couch late-

I don't finish the thought as I fall asleep, next to Veronica

I'm in a ballroom, with chandeliers with diamonds that twinkle like stars. I am dressed in a blood-red, silk gown, laced with rubies. The music never stops, playing gently, it has a soothing rhythm. The ballroom is full of gorgeous people, filled with intricate ball gowns and nice suits. I see pretty girls and handsome guys. But none of them interest me, until I meet her. The second I see her, it's as if someone shifted a spotlight on her.

She wears a deep blue gown, set with diamonds, making her shimmer like the night sky. Her  chocolate brown hair is pinned into a neat bun, but her face is blurred. 

We dance for the entire night. Until, out of the corner of my eye, someone enters the room. He doesn't wear a suit, or any finery. He's in plain clothing. The second he enters, everything shatters. 

I wake to up the sound of Veronica's alarm buzzing, she must have brought her phone. 

I pick and up and glare at it. 

Goddammit Veronica, who wakes up at 6:50?

 I look down and realize me and Veronica have been cuddling all night.
