The Forgotten Ones

I feel like this would be a really cool fanfic title, I don't know why. :P

While I will always love everything Disney stands for, I try to remember that it is a corporation, which means that one of its first priorities is to make money. This also means that if a movie bombs at the box office, (whether it's good or not) then there's not likely to be any more advertising or merchandise put out for it. An example of this is The Rescuers Down Under, which is the one and only Disney sequel that I love with all my heart. It did not do well with viewers, so no commercials or toys were made for it thereafter. However, if you watch it, you'll (hopefully) find that it is A WONDERFUL FANTASMIC ASSORTMENT OF AMAZING MAGICAL AUSTRALIAN RAINBOW GOODNESS!!!!! Sorry, freaked out a little there. It has breathtaking animation, great characters, good but not-too-obvious morals, and it stays true to the previous movie (P.S., Bernard x Bianca 4 ever!)

But can Disney see that? NO! Because it doesn't rake in the dough! And because Frozen made a quazillion(made that up) dollars, factories are selling little plush Olaf's and singing Anna's like nobody's business a year later!

But can you really blame a company for trying to make money? I guess not. It still won't stop me from feeling slightly frustrated for princesses like Eilonwy and Kida, who are great characters with unsuccessful movies. I guess our society is just messed up that way. *shrugs*

Actually, wouldn't it be more beneficial to sell toys for unsuccessful movies? Couldn't it lead to more people watching those movies? After all, if you saw a Disney princess doll in stores ifwhom you didn't know about, wouldn't you go try out her movie? Does that make any sense? I don't know.

Maybe we can't make Disney acknowledge the forgotten movies and characters, but there is something we can do about it as fans. I'm going to leave a list of "forgotten" Disney heroes, heroines, princes, princesses, shorts, movies, etc. below. If you ever run into these movies and are curious, I suggest you try them out. Leave a comment about what you thought of it if you want.  Draw Megara fanart! Write Treasure Planet fan fiction! Spread awareness and appreciation! You can even Message/comment a link to these types of things if you want; I'll see if I can check them out because I have nothing better to do. If I can't for any reason, I'll still advertise it on my profile! If I miss any feel free to add in comments!

~Heroine: Megara(she's awesome and the queen of snark. Spoilers: she won't say she's in love.)

~Hero: Hercules (I almost typed his name with a z. That's his rapper name.)

~Villain: Hades (He's like the original sassy gay friend. Just kidding, he's the Lord of the Dead.)

~Mentor: Phil (Can't spell his full name.)

~Sidekick: Pegasus (Meg calls him Pinto. Tehe)

*The Nightmare Before Christmas (yes, it is Disney, it just wasn't advertised much under their name.)

~Now I admit it's a little weird, but also amazing. Highly recommend. Fun fact: It took three years to animate(it's stop-motion).

~Jack and Sally! :D

*Basically anything Kingdom Hearts( I never actually played this game, but I think it's sad no one seems to remember it.)

*The Black Cauldron (people say it's creepy for Disney; whatever. Never actually seen the whole thing, but really want to.)

~Taron and Eilonwy (If you don't know how to pronounce their names I'm not telling you.)

~The Horned King (best Disney villain evvaaaaaa)
