"Here, you put your fingers right there"

Ted and I sit in his garage, side by side. Multiple amps and chords surround us, a Stratocaster sitting in his lap. We sits on the cement ground of the garage, bouncing in between guitar chords. "You know, It's great that your helping me dudette" Ted says to me, taking his gaze from the guitar to my face. I can help but flash a small smile at him. Ted told me that he wanted to actually learn how to play guitar, and I offered to help. I've been playing guitar for almost three years now. I lean over, adjusting his fingers to the E minor chord. He takes his free hand, striking the strings with the pick. The sound is a bit off, his fingers not quite finding the placement. "You're getting better Ted" I smile. I can see his confidence glows in his eyes. "It's total bogus that Bill couldn't come, I can't believe Missy grounded him again" His eyes wonder to his hand that hold the guitar strings "But then again, I wouldn't mind being grounded by Missy" he adds with a shy tone in his voice. He's always chasing that Missy chick. I don't get why she's dating Bill's dad anyway, she just graduated from San Demas like a year ago.

"Could you play me something?" Ted and I's eyes meet, searching. I can feel a nervous feeling bubble in the pit of my stomach. I've always had stage fright, even if its just one person. I reach my hands out as Ted puts the guitar on my lap. The guitar is a marbled design, sparkly blue and purple mixing, representing something similar to the galaxy. My hands find their position, using muscle memory. "What do you want me to play?" I look into Ted's coffee eyes. He's actually kind of cute. The way he fluffy brown hair hangs around his face, chiseling it. He smiles, showing his straight teeth "Anything would be most excellent dudette" "Alright...". My eyes drift to the guitar, studying the metal strings and shape. I breathe, starting to play a soft psychedelic tune across the strings. My muscle memory kicks in, letting my hands take full control. This is mom's favorite song. This used to be her favorite song. I furrow my brows at the thought of her, pushing her passing out of my head quickly.

I finish playing, finally striking my last chord. I look over at Ted and he has a wide grin slapped across his face. "That was most triumphant man!" I shyly look away, cheeks turning a bright red. "Thanks Ted, my mom used to make me play it for her all the time" I say with a reminiscing tone. He looks away, a sad look spreading on his face. Mum used to love having Bill and Ted over. She loved those two dummies with all her heart. "I'm sorry about your mum dude" he adds. I shake my head laughing "She would have loved to watch us play the guitar in here" he raises his head, looking at me and laughing. I hand the guitar back over to Ted, resting it in his lap. "Here, why don't you try and play the chords I taught you" I say, handing him the pick. He takes the pick, adjusting his other hand on the strings. He starts to nervously play the chords, his fingers not quite holding down the strings. He plays a couple chords, doing simple downward strokes. I can't help but smile, studying him. His head hangs a bit, causing his brown hair to fall over his face a bit. His lips hang open, breathing and focusing in on the guitar. He is so adorable when he plays. He finishes, looking back at me. He catches me starring and laughs "Rock on dude!". He stands up, throwing the guitar strap around his neck. He goes back to his usual, bashing the strings on the guitar. "Ted!" I exclaim with a laugh. He comedically gets on his knees, pretending he's a famous rock star on stage.

Suddenly, there's a loud screeching sound, followed by the sound of electricity. Smoke fills the air, blocking my vision and lungs. I cough, heading towards the garage door. "Ted?!" I call out through the smoke. "Right here dude!" he yells back. I open the garage, the smoke instantly filtering out. I stumble out of the garage, the sleeve of my arm covering my mouth from the smoke. Ted stumbles out behind me, laughing between his deep wheezes. I look around, looking at Ted's car in the driveway. I look back at the garage, smoke still filtering out. "I think we blew the amp man!" Ted says behind me. I look at Ted, his once neat hair now sitting a mess on his head. I cant help but chuckle.

"Looks like we are going to have to get new ones" I say, shaking my head.

"Most definitely man"
