"You're leaving aren't you?" I asked, my lips barely touching, rather trembling as a single teardrop fell to my cheek.
"Yes" he murmured
We stood there in silence for a while, I studied his face, how he could barely look at me. His body, the way his hand grasped his phone No tears fell from his face, no red glassy eyes, no quivering lips. Did he ever really love me? Did eight years mean nothing to him? I closed my eyes so that the edged teardrops could fall, they completely missed my face and hit my shirt.
"Okay," I said unsteadily.
I turned around slowly hoping he would grab my wrist to stop me from walking away, but he didn't. That was the day A.J became my past; five years ago.
