Barbie's POV
We had just arrived at the ball. Right now, I really hate this idea.. I should have just stayed home.
Everywhere here looked exquisite. Like one of those places where the floor looked too expensive and too polished to actually be stepped on.Williams has been great though, he hasn't let go of my hand since we arrived.
We kept stopping to greet people. My head was already spinning with all the names. Most of the men here looked like they will rape me with their eyes.
"Williams, can we just find somewhere to sit. This heels are killing me." I stood on my tip toe and whispered in his ear. Even in my heels he was still taller.
"Come on babe, just one more family and then we can sit."
I looked up to see the next family and nearly turned to run but William's grip on my hand was so strong I couldn't even turn.
"Barbie, we have come this far... We can't turn back now." William whispered firmly, still putting a smile on his face as we got closer.
I looked up and saw the horrified look on my foster mother's face. And one of disappointment on her husband's face. They others where engaged in what seemed like a heated conversation so they didn't notice us.
"Mr. Delucas." Mr. Anderson addressed Williams with a curt nod.
"Miss Davis." He said, looking at me like I owed him some sort of explanation. The gasps from the other part of the table reminded me of the presence of my siblings. The look on Matilda's face was one of pure disgust but Malisa on the other hand looked shocked and a little sad. Michael... Well I couldn't really decipher the look on his face. His face was just blank.
"Mr. Anderson, its good too see you again." Williams said bringing me back from my train of thoughts. "I assume you must have already met my wife?" Williams asked bringing more gasps from Matilda and Malisa, Malisa's gasp seemed to be the loudest. She was looking at Williams but he looked as if he was seriously averting her eyes.
There seemed to be some kind of tension. Yes, I know, but there seemed to be some other tension apart from the one I was causing.
"You... Your- your wife?" Malisa chocked out. She looked like she was on the verge of tears.
"Yes." Williams said firmly, looking at everyone but her.
"Well Williams we never heard of a wedding." Roseline (Mrs. Anderson) asserted.
"That is because everything happened so soon. We didn't want so many guests." Williams told her in the same tone. He was good at this. Although his cheeks where a little red. From what? I had no idea.
"I'm just here wondering what schemes or jazz that Barbie here may have used on you." Matilda said. She was the most sly one of them all. Next to her mother though. I hated her so much. Even though Malisa and I weren't best of friends, we tolerated each other at least... But Matilda was a totally different story.
"There were no schemes or jazz involved. I love Barbie for who she is." Williams said. If only the last bit was true...
"Mr. Anderson I suggest you put a mouth guard on your daughter because I will not accept insults of any kind towards my wife." He finished, emphasis on wife.I tilted my chin up and grinned at them considering my mouth has refused to form words.
"Emm....Sorry, Mr. Delucas." Samuel Anderson blurted out.
Williams put his hand around my waist and pulled me closer to him. After giving Mr. and Mrs. Anderson a curt nod. He led me to to our table.
My legs still felt wobbly, but this time for another reason all together.
I was too close to Williams to even think straight. All I could do perfectly at that moment was breathe.
He smelt so good.
