This takes place before the boy in the iceberg in the air temple
...
Anaya remembered everything that occurred before she went into "total hibernation", for goodness sake! She wasn't a gopher bear! And yet she meditated for 100. Whole. Freaking. Years. A whole century! How the heck was she not an old lady but remained 14 3/4 years old girl.
Sigh
She wished things could have stayed the same. Training in the dojo. Racing through the yard. Flying on the bison. Gliding through the mountains. Pulling pranks. Hanging out with Aang, and still, this whole messy war had to begin. Everyone she loved was gone.
"I remembered the good old days", she sighed to Sokka and Katara, "Back when everything was nice and not so dull and gray and depressing. When we could be just normal kids hanging out and having a morning glide in the park."
...
Anaya has always been the "wonder girl". From what she could recall she had among the strongest connection with the spirits than any nomad that ever lived and could even hear faint whispers from past Avatars. Of course, her personality was the opposite. She was temperamental, moody, mischievous, and on the other foot strongwilled, humorous, clever, and had a soothing laugh.
As an Airbender, she was quite short-tempered and impatient, while Aang had an abundance of patience. So whenever she got frustrated or grumpy Aang would always be there to calm her or support or be his usual positive self, and vice versa (but usually it was Aang who did it) He could handle her wild side when even the master's had trouble or little patience.
The little guy was the nicest sweetest lovable most patient person ever. Aang couldn't hurt a spiderfly.
Anaya remembered the first day she met Aang. She recently was assigned to have Monk Gyatso as her mentor along with him. She was 2 years older than him. They were both to be trained under him. It was uncommon for an air bender master to teach more than 1 student but not unheard of. Even if the old boomers tried to separate them, as soon as they met, the two became inseparable.
(Also the stiffy hags tried but Anaya was as stubborn as a mule lol. "NO!", she called to Aang. "Me, want to keep him as little bro!" and she squished his lil' cheeks.)
Wherever Anaya went Aang would tail her around. They always stuck together like birds of a feather and had each other's backs. On the other hand, they were competitive with one another. They would compete who had the fastest air scooter, race each other in every aspect, and laugh hysterically while having a blast.
Anaya achieved airbending mastery at the age of 12 and even succeded the master monks in spiritual prowess. She was able to travel to the spirit world at age 5 and engage in her Air Nomad studies. Always fascinated with history, other nations, the spirits, and discovering how Aang managed to do that juggling trick of his (like seriously how?).
Strangely though, ever since they formed a bond. She could feel this strange connection with him. Like whenever he had powerful emotions or thoughts, sometimes Anaya could tell what he was thinking or feeling.
She didn't know whether this was due to her spiritual powers or she was hallucinating.
Like that one time, he fell off Appa when he was learning to ride him. She had a big bruise or her bum for the whole day.
