"So what's your history with Turnbull?" Sara and Jonah were sitting outside waiting for the signal from You, Amaya, and Mick.
"Come again?"
"Well, you said that you had dealings over the years. I can tell a vendetta when I see one. I'm kind of an expert when it comes to revenge."
"This is what it's like working with a woman? You just sit around and talk about your feelings?"
"Well, if your 'feelings' are what almost got you hung, then, yeah, I'd say they're worth talking about."
"Not in my century."
"Oh really, not even your feelings about (Y/N)?" Jonah snapped his head to Sara, then tried to play it off.
"I don't know what you're talking about."
"Come on Hex, it's obvious. She likes you too." Jonah smiles slightly at the thought, but quickly brushes it away so Sara doesn't see.
"Even if I did like her, it wouldn't matter. She's a time traveller, it'd never work. So, best just drop the subject." Sara watched the broken man and felt pity for him. She knew he was lying about his feelings towards you, but his words were truly hurting him.
Meanwhile in the saloon, you and Amaya had been drinking at the bar, listening to Mick and his new friend. "This is torture." You downed another drink and put it down for the bartender to take.
"I know. But we just have to stay patient for a little while longer." Amaya changed her gaze from watching Mick and turned it to you. You were slumped over the bar and looked like you were completely drained of energy. "Are you alright (Y/N)?"
"I'm fine." You lift your finger to the bartender to show you're ready for another drink.
"Is this about Hex?"
"Man, does everyone just know how I like him now?"
"I only know that you have a fondness for him that I feel he needs from you. And who knows, you may need some of his too. Just don't lose hope." You let Amaya's words sink in, and they did help cheer you up a bit. Amaya updated Sara through the coms but started to get a worried tone, "Sara? What do you want me to do?"
"What's going on?" Before Amaya could answer, Jonah burst through the saloon doors.
"Turnbull!"
"What the hell is he doing?" Turnbull turned his head away from Mick and over to Jonah.
"Well, if it ain't the great Jonah Hex, himself. Whoo, you got quite a pair to walk into my establishment like this. You're like a cockroach. Hard to kill." Jonah kept a blank face, never averting his eyes for even a second. He didn't look to see your terrified expression.
"I'm taking you in. Alive or dead. Your choice." Jonah pulled out and aimed both his guns at Turnbull. He's being stupid, this place is full of Turnbull's men.
"I choose, dead." As if on queue, all of Turnbull's men stood and pointed their guns at Jonah. "Actually Jonah, I'm glad you decided to pay me this little visit. You see, I've been working on a little something. Seems that ore that I discovered...well, it's got special qualities." Turnbull raised his deadly modified gun and aimed straight at Jonah. You couldn't let this happen, you couldn't let that man die.
"No!" You ran and stood in front of Jonah, ready to make the sacrifice of your life. But the crack of a whip broke through the noise and made Turnbull miss. You open your eyes, not realizing you had closed them, and let out your breath. You felt a hand on your shoulder quickly turn you around, and you were then met with a softened and shocked Jonah.
