H.A.N.G O.N

LAST TIME :

When we got to the hospital the cop lady from earlier was there and we went up to her. George says "where is she?" She says "they are 5 minutes out but I must warn you. She's not looking so hot. She went through a lot and I'd pretty badly beaten up." George looks down and starts to tear up and so do I. I look up and as I do I see a gerney come in with a man on top of the person on it doing chest compressions. I look at the face and it's Jai. I see George try to run behind it and is stopped and I fall to my knees crying. Chris picks me up and cradles me. I fall more and more apart.

Jai's Pov

I feel dizzy and sick. My vision is blurry. At some point my step father started inviting friends to help him. They were allowed to do what they wanted, didn't matter what. I've been in this cold basement. It doesn't help that they keep pouring cold dirty water all over me. I can't hang much longer. Then I hear the doorbell ring. My step father was in the middle of filling the bucket as it did so he throws it down and kicks me before he opens the door. His clothes are the same as when he kidnapped me, he doesn't realize that. 

Narrator POV

In that moment when Jai's step dad opened the door he knew he fucked up. " Manhattan NYPD sir this is a nationwide search for the 3 girls in these pictures." Cop1 says after holding up a paper with jai's face at the very top. Step daddy dearest says " I have never seen any of the girls before. Good day." And tries to close the door but the cop puts his foot in the way. "Sir I did say search correctly, we need to search the premises." Cop2's eyes grow wide as he recognizes the man as Jai's step dad and says " Get down on the ground now!" Then cop1 says " what is the meaning of this?" Cop2 pulls out the second flyer and says "that is the top girl's step father." The rest of the cops pull their guns and all yell " Get on the ground, now!" Jai's step dad tries to close the door again as he runs down to the basement picking up a gun holding it to Jai's head as he picks her up. The cops stop in the basement looking at the scene and Cop1 says " ok ok ok put the girl down. This doesn't have to go badly." He throws down Jai putting the gun to his head and says " She is a worthless girl who should have never been born. I refuse to rot in a prison cell over her." 

He goes to pull the trigger but cop2 shoots him in the knee before he can. " Nah buddy your gonna do your time and I hope it life in penitentiary, or even better the chair." Cop 2 says while cuffing him and hands him off to another cop and goes over to Jai checking her pulse, "her pulse is weak call for an ambulance. Come on Jai hold on just a little longer sweetheart." Jai slightly opens her eyes and cop 2 says " Hey Jai, you're ok I just need you to hang in there ok." The cop tries to stand and call for them to hurry Jai grabs his arm and softly chokes out " I- c- can't." Cop 2 says " yes you can, you've held out this long. You're a strong girl. I did not come all this way, search this long and hard for you, to leave here with you not breathing do you understand me?" Jai nods cop 2 says "Good. Can I get blankets or something she's freaking freezing." The other cops do and when the ambulance arrives cop 2 picks Jai up and runs out with her, Jai says " Please don't leave me." Cop 2 nods and gets in the back as they move through the streets by police escort.

Cop2's Pov 

When we get in the back of the ambulance I can take a really good look at her. I look away cause she reminds me too much of my daughter. I think back on my actions tonight and question my choice to keep him liveing. If this was my little girl i more than likely would have shot him right between the eyes no questions asked. If I had done that I would have gotten fired and possibly arrested. I look back at her and say " how is she? Do you think she's gonna make it?" The paramedic in the back says " Just from the look of her and the monitor she's in bad shape, it'll be one hell of a fight but if anyone can do it this girls got it. God I can only pray my baby girl is as strong as this girl." I nod and say " yeah me too." Just then the monitor rings a straight beep ring and the paramedic says "she's flat liening. " I get on top of her and start chest compressions and say " come on Jai, come back to me. We had a deal." 

Just as I go to do mouth to mouth we are at the hospital they pull the gernie out and I continue to do chest compressions as we go in. I see the head cop and Jai's father and a girl. Her father tries to follow but is stopped. I keep going and the monitor starts again and I stop and say " Jai you had me worried there for a second. I gotta go but these guys are the best there gonna get you through this." I walk out of the room and out to the waiting area and am covered in blood, sweat, tears, and dirty water.

George's Pov

I try to follow them and get stopped and I say " That's my daughter and I haven't seen her in almost 3 months." The nurse says "sir I understand, but right now we need to make sure she gets through this. Just let us do our job." I nod and walk back slowly. A few moments later the man that was doing the chest compressions walks out and goes to the detective that started the mass search. I think she said her name is Liza Light. They talk for a moment and then he looks at me and he walks over to me and asked "Can we talk outside?" I nod and we walk outside and he says " Sir the last time I saw your daughter she was breathing. That was less than a minute ago I just want you to know what happened tonight." I nod and look at him he tells me everything and then finishes with " I could have killed him but I didn't because she has the right to face him and watch him suffer for what he has done." 

I nod and say "I more than likely should not be saying this but I would of killed him." Cop2 says " oh trust me I would have too, but I didn't because well I was doing my job as a cop not as a father." I nod and say " I understand. What's your name?" He looks me in the eyes and says " Andy Coste." I nod and say " Thank you for bringing her back to us." He smiles and nods then we walk back in. A nurse is standing there talking to Chris and says "we need to run so many test but we need your permission to do so." Chris says "where do I sign?"
