Days went by, me and Hermione were spending time together in the library most of the times. I tried to avoid Raven as well as I could. She was trying to get my attention all the time but I knew better to ignore her. I guess I hurt her feelings somehow, but she hurted my friend and that's unforgivable.
Hermione told me everything that happened the night when Harry was called in by professor McGonagall. She didn't even look concerned about the fact that there's a huge three-headed dog on the third floor. I looked around the Great Hall. Ever since Hermione told me about that dog, I was wondering what it's doing into the castle. There could be a lot of reasons why. I thought it could be for some lessons, maybe in Defense Against the Dark Arts or Care of Magical Creatures, even though I'm not having that class, I heard the older students talking about it. But I might also be wrong about it. It could be guarding something. I told Hermione my theory, before the first class could start, but she looked at me suspicious.
"What do you think?", I said in a low voice.
"Have- have you, by any chance, talked to either Ron or Harry?", I looked at her weird.
"No. Why would I do that? They hate my guts!"
"Well, I heard them talking about that -thing- this morning. Harry thinks it guards something. Something powerful, maybe even dangerous."
"I think we should solve this mystery"
"What on earth are you talking about?"
"I'm just saying. I'm curious and I wanna find out. Plus you're the smartest girl I know, I thought you could help me?"
"I'm sorry Evelyn, I can't risk getting in trouble and I won't let you get in trouble as well. So you should stop worrying about that. I'm sure Dumbledore has a certain reason why he keeps that giant dog in the castle", she said when professor McGonagall entered the class and started the lesson.

The day went by not as fast as I wanted it to. In fact it was the longest day of my life. I couldn't wait for it to be over. Me and Hermione were walking to our last class of the day, which it was charms. I was sitting beside Ron Weasley and another boy from Gryffindor, whose name I learned to be Seamus Finnigan. Professor Flitwick was sitting in his usual sit raised by a few books.
"Alright class, settle down everyone", he said in his high-pitching voice. "One of the wizards most rudimentary skills is levitation. What the ability to make objects fly. You will have your feathers. Now, don't forget the nice wrist movement we've been practicing, the swish and flick. Everyone", he said making a gesture to us. I picked up my wand and and repeated with everyone else the wrist movement, "good. Oh and enunciate: Wingardium Leviosa. Off you go that.", and with that I picked up my wand once again and started to practice the charm on the feather in front of me.
At first nothing happened, I tried it again and it levitated only two inches above the desk then fell right down. I tried once again and nothing happened again. I felt someone waving their wand so fast that it almost hitted me. I looked over and saw Ron trying to get the charm out of the wand. I looked at Hermione questionable and she only shook her head and stopped him.
"Stop, stop, stop", he put the wand down and looked at her annoyed. "You're going to take someone's eye out!", she said looking at me, then turned back to the red head in front of her, "Besides you're saying it wrong. It's Le-vi-O-sa not Le-vio-sA."
"You're doing it if you're so cleaver. Go on, go on", he said waiting for her to demonstrate, she gave me a glace and I gave her a thumbs up. She picked up her wand and cleared her throat.
"Wingardium Leviosa ", she spelled the charm while waving her wand gracefully and the feather was now floating in the air. Everyone stopped and looked at the flying feather impressed.
