Once November came along the Quidditch season started. I was sitting at the Gryffindor table. It was Saturday morning, meaning it was the first Quidditch game of this season. I was trying to calm Harry down. It was his first game.
"Harry you're going to be fine. I told you already. Quidditch is in your blood!"
"But what if I fall off the broom and embarrass myself in front of all school!?"
"Stop being dramatic", I said annoyed. "And you need to eat, otherwise you really will fall down the damn broom!"
"Yeah, take a bit of toast, mate. Go on.", affirmed Ron.
"They're right Harry. You'll need your strength today", said Hermione.
"I'm just not hungry", he said putting the fork down and looking at me. 'Oh Lord, he's hopeless', I thought sighting. I looked up and saw dad coming our way. I immediately cleared my throat and the others looked up too. He was looking directly at Harry.
"Good luck today, Potter", he started. "You've proven yourself against a troll. A fame of Quidditch shpuld be easy work. Even if it is against Slytherin", he ended then turned to me. "Evelyn, a word", I nodded and got up from my seat.
"Good luck, Harry", I said before following his out of the Great Hall.
We were walking on the empty corridor in silence, until I decided to break it.
"Why did you wanted to talk about?", I looked at him. "Is it because of my grades. They're really high, if 'Exceed Expectations' is enough", I said worried.
"It is not about your grades.", he said silently, I sighted in relief.
"Then what is it about?"
"I'm happy to see you've made friends. Although, I would've preferred them to be in your own house."
"I know, but everyone from Slytherin are some immature jerks. Well, not everyone but most of them. No one from my year is nice and most of them are avoiding me. So I'm alright with my friends from Gryffindor."
"How about we make a pact?", I looked at him confused.
"What do you mean?"
"You try be friends with someone from Slytherin and I will consider your work in my class better then 'Exceed Expectations'", I, once again, looked at him not just confused but revolted as well.
"No. I do not accept it. I want my work to be on my merit. I don't want my grades to be brought."
"Alright, I understand-"
"But I will try", I said cutting him off mid-sentence and looked down. "With one condition. I am allowed to continue be friends with Hermione, Harry and Ron", I ended looking at him serious. He sighted but nodded.
"Very well, then. For the start try Lestrange.", and with that he left me in the hallway with the most impossible task.
I was about to turn back into the Great Hall, when I saw Harry, Ron and Hermione running towards me. Harry ran passing me with Ron, but Hermione stopped.
"What happened?"
"Harry received a broom. And he needs to hurry because the game begins in fifteen minutes", my eyes widened.
I took Hermione's hand and we ran together to the Quidditch field. There we met with Ron.
"Ron! Harry has got a broomstick? How?"
"Not just a broomstick! It's a Nimbus 2000!", I gasped.
"No way! Gryffindors are totally going to win!", I said. "The game is about to start. I'll see you after the game. Bye!", and with that I was running to the Slytherin's stands.
