ship: m-more...more lociet agere content? Um, yes!!!

warnings: nothing really, Janus is embarassed and shy and Logan has to be strict.

Summary: Little Janus tells lies, a lot. Over nothing, to stay out of trouble after getting in trouble. One day, after only being his caregiver for a few months, Logan catches him a lie that doesn't last long, and he realizes that a lot of the trouble related to him not getting enough attention.

--

"Baby, did you not listen to me when I said it was bedtime last night?" Logan saw how sleepy Janus was throughout the morning. Extremely cuddly and tired, not talkative at all. They were in Janus's room, sitting on the edge of his bed.

"No, I went nini when you tucked me in!" he squeaked, rubbing at his eyes. Logan did not like having to scold him, because he always felt genuinely bad after, but he also just continued to break the same rules.

"Janus, don't lie to me," Logan spoke in a more harsh voice, catching the shift away from him and the whimper Janus let out. "If you couldn't sleep, you should've came and got me. I would've let you sleep in a little bit, and saved you some leftover breakfast. I didn't have to wake you up to eat early with everyone else if you were that tired."

Janus did a slow nod. "I-um..I couldn't sleep, so I stayed up later," he admitted.

Logan was just glad he wasn't lying, so he gave a soft nod. "And why couldn't you sleep well, sweetheart?" Janus seemed embarrassed, biting at his lip.

"You tucked me in and just left me! With my stuffies and blankies, b-but I wanted you!" Janus looked down, fiddling with the end of his shortalls a bit.

"What do you mean by that? You used to sleep without me just fine," Logan was honestly very confused at this point. He had only been Janus's carer for a bit, and to his knowledge, Janus had been regressing for a while without a caregiver.

"Um...I just wanted cuddles. You sometimes lay with me, and I like that. And when you don't do that, it's hard to sleep," Little Janus seemed so overwhelmed by this, and anxious too. This was being vulnerable, and he still found that hard to do sometimes.

"Oh, darling. Come here," Logan opened his arms, and Janus came closer and let him wrap his arms around him. Logan got used to the hugs and stuff, so it wasn't really awkward.

"Besides last night, I have been going to bed with you while you're little, huh? I didn't realize how much that meant to you, and how much that helped you. That's on me, Little One, but also, you could've told me sooner." Logan sighed, looking at the boy he held in his arms.

"I'm sorry! I didn't know how, and I thought you were gonna cuddle me but you just left to work and I was sad about it!" his eyes filled with tears, and he sniffled.

"Hey, now. You don't need to cry, I'm not gonna get upset with you at all. Remember what I said?" Janus shook his head a bit.

"It might be hard, but if you're telling the truth when you didn't want to, then I'm proud of you. You're being vulnerable and it's hard, and maybe overwhelming for you, but you're safe with me. I promise," Janus leaned into Logan's arms, taking a few moments to take a breath. Logan didn't rush him, waiting for him to sit back up and turn towards him before asking another question.

"Jan, did you cry last night?" Logan questioned. He knew now that Janus didn't stay up all night playing a game, or coloring or anything like that, he was upset and he didn't know how to say it. Now that Logan thought about it, more recently, there's been a pattern of Janus breaking rules when he was alone, or not given attention. Whether breaking those rules was to get the attention he wanted, or because he was upset and didn't know how to deal with it.
