"Taxi!" You were screaming at the top of your lungs as you ran out of your hotel room. You were late for a job interview because you had slept in and as a result, you couldn't find a free taxi. Like a mad person, you peered into the windows of the taxi's that were stopped because of the traffic. Every single one of them were filled apart from one with a tall, lanky blonde man. You decided to try your luck and you opened the door of the car and squeezed into the seat next to him.
Both the blonde man and the taxi driver looked at you with sheer confusion. "Do you know her?" the taxi driver asked the blonde man. He opened his mouth, "uhhhh----" "Yeah, I'm his girlfriend," you quickly lied. When the blonde man didn't say anything to oppose you, the taxi driver shrugged his shoulders and leaned forward to turn up the radio. You hurriedly continued tying you hair up into a bun, which was hard given that you didn't have a mirror. "Where are you two going?" the taxi driver asked as the traffic cleared and he began to drive. You used the opportunity to tell the driver the address of the place you had the interview. The blonde man next to you looked taken aback at the location. It seemed as though he had never been on that side of LA.
As the taxi continued taking you to the destination, you resumed perfecting your appearance and mentally revising a few points about the company and yourself. You weren't aware that the blonde stranger sitting beside you; though he was startled at your antics, was extremely attracted to you. At first, he genuinely thought you were a groupie that he had slept with and left and that you were just trying to follow him. But he knew if he saw you once, he'd sure as hell recognise you again or he wouldn't leave you in the first place. You were different that the other girls that he had met. He liked the fact that you hadn't started flirting with him the moment you saw him; albeit that you were distracted.
The blonde man watched from the corner of his eye as you straightened your pencil skirt and double checked the buttons on your shirt. He could recognise that you were rushing to go somewhere so he decided to leave you alone until, he couldn't take it anymore. "I'm sorry... but I'm Duff," he held out his gloved hand for you to shake. You were confused at his words, "you're sorry that you're name is Duff?" Regardless of what he meant, you didn't dwell on it and you shook his hand and introduced yourself.
He was about to ask you another question when the taxi pulled up next to the building. "Okay, here we are guys," the taxi driver said as you handed him some money. You pulled Duff out of the taxi with you, well aware that the driver would become very confused and catch onto your 'trick'. You rummaged around in your purse for some more money which you gave to Duff. "I'm sorry for stealing your taxi, this should be enough money to take you to wherever you need to go," you quickly said placing the bills into his hand, "thank you Mr Duff." Those were you final words to him before you rushed into the building for your interview. Duff just stood there on the sidewalk, half bewildered and half fascinated at you. He watched the building that you sped into, then he examined his outfit: leather. There was no way security was letting him past that door to follow you. Duff had no idea why he felt so allured to you but he found himself mouthing the name you had called him, "Mr Duff." "Mr Duff," he repeated with a little chuckle as he leaned against the side of the building. He liked that name.
An hour and a half later, you had finished your meeting and you were a bit more relaxed as you walked out of the building. You let down your hair, annoyed that the bun you had tied was causing a headache. "Woah," you heard a voice behind you as you ran your fingers through your hair and sighed at the oddly freeing sensation. You turned around to see the same man from the taxi, Duff. "Hi," you said to him. Conscious that the situation was a tiny bit creepy. "Did I not give you enough money for your taxi?" you said as you tried to pull your wallet out.
Duff stopped you and explained himself, "no I'm just a bit curious about you." You knew what he was implying. He wanted to get to know you. You looked at your watch, you did have time to kill and you were in a public place. Plus, you were starving. "Okay, you can buy me lunch Duff," you agreed.
